2026 Offseason Thread

I don't think John is going to be ready for what the NY market is going to do to him if they don't look decent.

As a fan of a few teams that are in bigger markets it's going to be very interesting to see him there.

(Sorry boys, Lakers and Yankees fan)

That shit dont matter. Education or not, people still just dont get it. Some learn by trial and error and some dont. Some never learn at all.
OK, so why would I want that person to earn more $ if they're too lazy or stupid to even manage the unfathomable amounts they already have? Especially in a financial system with a finite income cap? There was a time, in a pre-internet world, where I had sympathy for people being exploited and having a lack of financial education. It was hard to find quality guidance that wasn't expensive. In today's world, with near infinite amount of info available purely for free, it's just inexcusable.

Either way, its a zero sum game. A player voluntarily making less so that others can make more doesn't guarantee that the team will be successful. Similarly, a player getting the max payday he can get doesn't guarantee that player will produce at a higher level than they previously were.

Yeah he thought the fans and media in Baltimore were bad. He's in for a rude awakening if he pulls the same shit that market. Most likely going to get much more national attention as well.

You should have seen what the media was doing to A-Rod.

I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I think its overplayed. I think the whole "local media markets are tough" thing is sort of a relic of a time where sports weren't national brands like they are now. I rarely listen to Ravens press conferences, and I rarely give a fuck what any of the idiotic pundits on local radio stations say. National analysts aren't any better, but they have much wider audiences and get way more public attention.

I think there's a point in time where local reporters at press conferences will ask him tougher questions than they did in BAL, but I would think fans would have figured out by now that John is exceptionally good at answering a question by saying nothing. A lot of these older coaches do a much better job of handling media pushback. I think a lot of the people who get butthurt about what the media says about them are narcissistic in nature. Not seen anything from John to suggest he's in that mold.

Just wait till they start asking him about injuries and what does day-to-day really mean.

I am not sure if they will ask "tougher" questions per say but the level of attention is different.

For me, it is going to be interesting to watch

I mean the Giants have been so bad for so long that even being 7-10 will feel like a breath of fresh air.

Interesting EDC interview on the Inner Circle

I'm probably talking nonsense but I can't shake the idea that EDC seems a little bit... off.

I thought it in the Minter first press conference he just seemed really different from what I had previously seen from him, seemed a bit vacant, I almost got the impression he didn't want to be there. He is a bit more lively in this interview but he just seems a bit different to me. Probably just me.

i think tbh he's just shattered - he talked in that interview about having to run the normal offseason process and then on top of that do this intensive coaching search and talked about burning the candles at both ends

my guess is it's:
1) he's exhausted
2) he's still getting over the massive change to the organisation - he lost a friend and neighbour that he's worked with for 18 years

but also i dont think he's seemed off tbh

And those 2 calls directly contradict eachother.

Those 2 steelers games they spit in our face. Then the fact they actually should have been called for a penalty on the loop miss. Whatever. Great staff and genuine excitement/hope for this season.
