2026 Offseason Thread

Losing Nnamdi was big that's one of the reasons why the pass rush wasn't good but also the ravens gambling on Oweh to step up and Van Noy to stay just as good as he was in 2024 didn't go in the ravens favor. Oweh inability to be an every down edge rusher led to a guy like Mike Green to play more than I think the coaching staff actually wanted but again losing Nnamdi was big . Greens a young guy im sure he enjoys what really gets him paid which is sacks . I doubt asking him to drop into coverage or set the edge is something he enjoys or enjoyed but that's not going to stop in Jessie Minter defense though.

We speak about handcuffing our pass rushers and maybe Jessie Minter scheme helps with freedom but honestly the ravens been asking their edge rushers to handle responsibilities outside of just rushing the passer for years.

I'd side with you if we haven't seen people leave and then immediately improve. We messed with Kruger. Let him rush and was a huge reason we won a ring. ZDS and Judon leave and have their best seasons. Oweh left sans sacks. Gets 7 and then 3 more in the playoffs. They asked them to do too much instead of what they were good at.

Could be that when those guys left they had players around them that gave them more of a chance to get free. i.e. Oweh in SD.

Naw.. we had judon, smith, and suggs all on the same roster along with cj mosley and brandon williams who people thought would magically start getting sacks.. i even remember with suggs that he was even required to drop in cvg and set the edge( i think he one of best run defenders ever from edge)..

Yeah and they’ve been ass for years, and the players leave and have career years as others have said, and the film shows it, the edge rushers are handcuffed by the scheme, they aren’t allowed to pass rush with a plan.

Oweh legit had double sacks under Zack Orr and so did Kyle Van Noy in 2024 . The big difference was not having Nnamdi in 2025 for the rest of the season to go with older Van Noy that likely lost a step and a Oweh that just simply couldn't handle being more than a pass rush specialist which shown being good at for the charges cause their talent at the edge rush position was better than the ravens
.

Per usual, the reality is likely somewhere in between on the pass rush woes. The coaching staff has always preached gap integrity and being able to do all of the things on the field. The pass rushers want to go get the QB. You can't really argue that the coaching staff probably should have relented on the "everything" concept because we were getting chewed up constantly, but the pass rushers also need to do other things than get the QB. Seems like it was broken, and hopefully it is now fixed.

Exactly. When you have less threats to worry about it's much easier to stop the ones that are there.

That's all well and good, but where's the locker room dance? Where's the confirmation of whether or not anyone else has it better than us?
Giving me PTSD
