I don’t count WR as a hole because they have an ability be average 1 and a below average 2 making the room okay. Maybe a new WR3 is nice but that’s not enough to call it a hole.

Right now IOL is a massive hole. One of the 3 positions has a proven starter (not great but at least proven). The IOL is basically the WR room without Flowers.

you need 3 WRs to be in 11 personnel and we've only got 1 on the roster that has shown he can be reliably anything

Well, if you imagine him as a 6'3", 240 lbs, 4'30" in the 40s wr
that choice looks very different

that makes sense only if we forget about why WRs aren't normally 240lbs...
because it's more about deceleration than it is about burst and speed - which is why the stopwatch isnt typically a good predictor of NFL success at WR

if we're thinking of him as a power slot WR who can give you a bit of blocking in 11 personnel in tighter formations, then i'd prefer Denzel Boston or De'Zhaun Stribling or Chris Bell or even Makai Lemon

Doyle uses more sets with 2/3 TEs, generally 12.
Currently we only have Andrews and Smythe.
I think we'll choose two TEs, and while there are many similar ones in the draft, Sadiq stands out for all of those reasons (plus, along with Ioane, they're the favorites for pick 14).

Would never happen but i believe this is quentin nelson last year of contract with colts and colts dnt have many picks….dont know his worth but shit it wouldnt hurt to try
We about to have our own Nelson in Ioane

this would feel like such a mistake just like last time we picked a TE in the 1st round... and he ended up being completely overshadowed by a guy we picked later

if you want to draft a freak at TE, wait and draft Delp, Raridon, Stowers on day 2

I agree, I don't like Sadiq there (nor Ioane).
In this draft, I don't have any "red star" players; I'd be good/bad with almost any pick

I really hope the Sadiq buzz is pure smokescreen/trade bait.

We need to add a TE or two but blocking has to be his #1 skill, not track speed. I know Sadiq isn't a bad blocker but he's not so good that I want to go TE 2 or 3 rounds too early just to add his speed.

Out of interest, who was the best ever NFL TE that was a burner? The best I can think of was Vernon Davis, who was a good player but never lived up to his R1 draft status. The rest of them seem to be good for 1 or 2 big plays a season and rarely even become their team's TE1.

I’m probably the person here most down on Bateman (I thought he would be lucky to get a 4th let alone a 3rd) but I think he might be comparable to Simpson which means that position group isnt a hole. Being weak at number 3 WR is hardly a hole.

The IOL is a hole. The IOL is the WR room minus Flowers. There isn’t anyone you can point to and say “yep that position is solid”.

This draft is so weird because the roster has more holes than it has typically had in the last 4 or 5 years. In my opinion. And some of those holes are hard, like C which isn't as straightforward as other OL spots. Then it's a really bad top end talent year. Feels like a lot of limbo to me.

Needs between draft and FA
C
OG
WR
TE
TE again
RB
DL
EDGE
ILB
CB

Good news is that most of those are simply depth needs, and having 11 picks solves a lot of these on paper

There are not a lot of holes though. There are only 2 holes: a second pass rusher and IOL. Those are the only holes. There are areas to add depth but that is what late round picks are for and you can find good IOL on late day 2 early day 3.
lol yeah I got like 3-4x as many holes as you do.
1. You have multiple needs at iOL, because you have no confidence in any C on the the roster and you at minimum need depth at Guard.
2. The TE room is closer to bottom of the league than anything. Need at least one of those, possibly two.
3. Absolutely zero depth at RB. Will definitely be drafting one.
4. Below average WR core as it stands today. Bateman is a #2 you clearly don't feel confident in, and your depth is nothing special.
5. You really don't have much pass rushing depth outside or inside. Assuming Madubuike isn't back to start the year, its still a pretty average IDL.

There really aren't that many positions where you can take a guy on day 3 and say "yes, I feel like he can start right away". I don't even think you can do that with Center or RB. Basically if you're giving up a 2nd rounder to move up for a pass rusher, you can't draft any other position in the 3rd round except Center. And EDC is never going to go into a draft with that mentality.

I wouldn't expect them to be in on ILB, CB or Safety in the draft until day 3. Safety probably wouldn't be on my draft board at all and I'd be disappointed with anything beyond like a 6th or 7th rounder at ILB.

This is pretty much unambiguously correct
