Massive hands, highlights are full of circus catches.
Height-Weight-Speed dude.

Big guy who can move.

He works vertically - not a guy who's going to sink and break horizontally much. More of a vertical "X" type who can win on the boundary and take the top off the defence.

you're banking on significant development to develop his raw tools
he's not good vs press right now - gets easily jammed

if he can fight through contact in the route, it will open up his game - but that's going to have to be one of his primary focuses this offseason

Gotta remember we have a new coaching staff now, we actually might be able to do the kid a favor

Good thing is that the positives he has are the uncoachables. The negatives are the coachables. If you can open up that release against press, he has the speed and movement skills to be more than just a jump ball guy. But it's going to be a process.
I think he is someone who will take some time to improve and make an impact. Like, he is a year 2 player to me. Doesn't mean he won't be good year 1, but I think it will be year 2 where he shines. His hands are very good, really good focus, too, grabbing the ball. His catch radius is pretty impressive, and he runs fast. You can see the potential, but he needs some work for sure.

Yep, get him some run in certain packages and work the true development behind the scenes. Feels like the type of guy that when/if he gets it, it's all systems go from there.

you're betting on the age, the athlete and the catchpoint traits (if not the consistent success on contested targets)

had a 30 visit that wasn't publicised
think you don't take him if you're not excited about his growth mindset and coachability

And that interview seems like he's an impressive kid. I imagine they fell in the love with the human too based on that. Could be good, could be bad.

there's also a reason the rams (and some other teams with rams roots) have stopped doing 30 visits because they want to remove as much bias as possible

my fear with Lane is that the Ravens front office and scouting system hasnt adjusted for the skillsets and traits they prioritise on day 2

my hope is that they have and that there's something about Lane that doesnt show up on tape

The longer I think about it the more this picks annoys me.

He's not a great prospect. He was wildly over drafted.

But what annoys me most is the missed opportunity to draft a player who could be useful now and still pick up Lane later if they loved him

I hope I'm wrong

I wouldve never thought we wouldve picked this guy.. this must be some doyle shit lol..

Idk we haven’t done this in a while but I would say the day 2/3 WR drafting in EDC’s tenure has been bad - and they’ve drafted multiple HWS athletes in the 3rd/4th round and none of them have panned out

Lane feels like the boykin pick all over again
