Around the NFL: News and Rumors

I think the NFC south will reel back after how successful they were last year. I honestly might sound a bit optimistic here but the AFC north might actually be the best division in the league next year if the Browns keep going where theyre headed

the AFC North might end up with the fewest bad teams but the NFC South have so many teams that could be lethal - i do expect the panthers to take another step back (depending on their draft) and I do expect the Falcons to improve as they did to end the year and the Saints have one of the most dynamically ridiculous offences in recent times and the bucs cant be much worse than they were last year given their offensive pieces

I think the panthers will have a losing season tbh. The falcons will be formidable if they stay healthy. I think the Falcons lack a lot of depth tbh, we have much better depth especially defensively than they do. At least no one in that division has a special teams quite like ours lol. Plus we have a good history from what I remember vs the NFC South. We havent lost to Drew Brees yet.....hopefully lol. Cam Newton could struggle vs our secondary. Hes known for his inconsitencies. The Saints should be the favorites and im not sure their roster isnt much different than ours especially if we have a good draft. Remember the saints went 7-9 like 3 years in a row until they hit the jackpot with the draft last year

last time we played the NFC South their division winner went 7-8-1 - all the teams in that division were trash that year which is why we went 4-0 against them - that's not the sort of form that carries...

I think the biggest mark against the Falcons is still Steve Sarkesian and his inability to make the most of the offensive pieces on that roster - Julio would disappear for large stretches with no targets, taylor gabriel was hardly used in the right way at all and mo sanu was a non-factor at times - the mesh that was so good with the same personnel the year before was almost completely absent in 2017 - my worry for the falcons is that they are a year further removed from that magical offence and theyve lost a nice piece of that offence too now with gabriel gone

the panthers are due a fall back to earth but they also clocked some huge wins last year against teams they should have had no right competing with and getting into the playoffs at all... ill never count them out with that coaching staff and cam newton but i agree that their roster suggests they arent a winning team this year

there are ways that we could beat all of these teams and there are ways that they maybe wont be as strong but a lot of things have to happen for the NFC South not to have at least 2 really strong contenders in the NFC this year

Lmaoooo good one. Keep the jokes coming!

The Rams think this the NBA and building super teams is how you win. I don't see this working out for the Rams. I still have the 49ers winning the West.

I mean...I don't see how building a super team wouldn't work...

yeah me neither - they have an incredibly looking secondary and an incredible looking DL with wade phillips running that defence and on the other side of the ball a high-powered offensive mind helming them with a young qb on a rookie deal and maybe the best rb in the league behind a strong (even if it is ageing) oline - they need more playmaking at receiver with watkins leaving but i think you'll see them target skill positions in the draft - plus they've got a great special teams coach too

Lot of ego on that team, too.

Sure it could work but it's like they are going all in before they have to sacrifice their cap to keep Goff and no longer be able to afford to put a team around him. Plus they have to pay Donald, do they pay Peters in a couple years?

Lot of ego on that team, too.

That too, that's a lot of egos that could destroy a very good young team. The Rams don't need locker room cancers and headaches like Suh and Talib in the same locker room disrupting what they started to build last year.

i mean i think they (rightfully) see their superbowl window as wide open and are maximising the chances they might have to get there and win as many times as possible - the way their future cap space is structured i dont think they'll honestly have too much trouble retaining both peters and donald in successive years while also adding more free agents...

and on the subject of locker room cancers i think they've actually been quite clever - suh and talib have been guys who have been in trouble from a media standpoint and have some issues on the field occasionally but are guys who have mostly (at least in the last 2-3 years) been seen as respected members of their own locker rooms - talib in particular was well-liked in denver and suh was a guy who kinda put his head down the last couple of years and did his job and tbh the only instance of him acting out recently that i can remember was the slight push around the neck of mallett vs the ravens this year and i wont lie mallett (stupidly) was the aggressor in that incident - the other miami players in that weird brawl were doing way worse things...

i think they've picked their targets pretty well as long as these new additions buy in to the organisational ambition
