Around the NFL: News and Rumors

So Bruce Allen was the reason Trent Williams stayed away from the Redskins, apparently Trent is now reconsidering returning to the team with Allen now gone. If he returns, that frees them up to take Chase Young on that defense.

Yep, everybody gets an interview

Of course they don't know what they are doing. They fire coaches after 1 or two seasons(granted most of the hires were truly bad hires from the beginning) but still that's not enough time to build a winning culture. Always starting over, that's why for 20 years they haven't done nothing since returning in the league.

My predictions:
Redskins: Ron Rivera
Cowboys: Lincoln Riley
Giants: Matt Rhule
Panthers: Eric Bieniemy
Browns: Mike McCarthy

this is pretty accurate, but I'm not sure Lincoln Riley leaves Oklahoma.
Maybe but I think the opportunity is too good to pass up. Cowboys want to make a huge splash and has the money to do it. Pretty good team and a weak division. We shall see.

Von Miller is no longer a free agent...... Elway announces team will pick up Von's $18M club option for 2020.

VON MILLERLB, DENVER BRONCOS

Broncos GM John Elway said the team will pick up Von Miller's $18 million club option for 2020.

I dont think it's right for this kind of tampering until the season is over with.

the rule was changed a few years ago to allow teams to interview playoff-bound coaches on black monday - but this bye week is the only week in which they are allowed to do it for coaches who are still in the tournament...

We will certainly grant our coordinators the permission to interview before the season is complete, but I hope our coordinators refuse to interview until the season is over. I want their comment to be, "I need to be 100% focused on the job I have right now".

that's naive because the jobs wont be there if they havent interviewed yet...

To be fair, the Bucs should consider all options NOT named Jameis Winston. Bruce worked wonders with Luck in Indy, Carson in Arizona and despite the interceptions Winston had the best season of his career in year one with Bruce. I don't doubt Bruce when he says the Bucs can win with any QB, and most other QBs would be an improvement over Winston.

I'm surprised the Browns are interviewing so many young guys - would have assumed they'd want someone with proven HC experience and some pedigree given why it fell apart for Freddie Kitchens... someone like McCarthy makes sense albeit it's not a flashy name - Rivera would have been perfect but also is seemingly already in Washington

honestly Jay Gruden should be the dream hire there if he's even remotely interested

Do you know if you can block requests from certain teams, but still allow other teams' requests?

that would be in bad faith - would be making decisions for your employees and not a good look - on what basis could you justify limiting their opportunities?

Cowboys: Urban Meyer - which would be great, I could hate them even more.
Meyer to Cowboys ... that seems like the kind of splash play Jerruh is going to want to pull off.

I'd be surprised of either of our coordinators got a look from them. They don't fit the Jerruh profile ... way too meat and potatoes. Too much substance, not enough flash.

that is correct and I believe teams that are in the wild card week are allowed to interview on one day next, but I'm not sure of that.
