Around the NFL: News and Rumors

There is no reason we shouldnt trade for Landry IMO

with the intent of resigning him.

ozzie can stick his mid round picks up his arse. he cant draft a WR for shit

get him
I really want Landry if he signs long term. Not sure why others wouldn’t want him

oh we'll inquire

but ozzie will refuse to part way with a 3rd round pick

thinking...

but what if i get the next carl davis?....

I’m curious what it would take to get him. Maybe a 4th or 5th due to what they got for Ajayi? Plus Jarvis’ contract is up, so we can use that as leverage.

we need a possesion WR.

Perriman is a joke and possibly the worst WR in the NFL.

Wallace and Maclin are hot n cold types.

Landry is in his prime and has excellent hands and has been consistent throughout his career

i dont think he's a great wide receiver - for me he's a gadget slot guy who has to have space schemed for him and has a lot of manufactured yards - he occasionally makes a great play but he's not a world beater - add to that the fact that he hasnt been buying in to the miami offence or putting the work in and then ends up botching assignments - he doesnt have the speed or physicality to play consistently on the outside and while he sometimes makes spectacular catches they are very rarely contested

and more importantly he will cost way more than he's worth - i imagine he'll get a contract in the region of 10mill per year and that is way too much for what he is which is a useful offensive piece but a player who should not be the centre piece of your offence

sami you are the guy who hates the fact that we are up against the cap every year without any star players - trading for and re-signing landry is an extreme version of the thing you hate - more bad money on a non-elite player

when it comes to the WR position i change my stance. Ozzie and co are about the worst WR talent evaluators in the history of the NFL.
I'll be happy with a good in his prime WR

He’s still better than Perriman, Wallace, Camp, Moore and Whalen. Plus we’re notoriously bad at drafting WR’s. I’m not sure what’s not to like about him. He has sure hands, is relatively durable, and is probably the best slot WR in the league. Will go over the middle and make the tough catches. I’m done with mediocrity at the WR position and counting on potential and being let down with the likes of Perriman and Campanaro. I’d welcome a trade for Landry with open arms.

If there's any way we can trade for Landry, since the Dolphins seem to be cleaning house, then make it happen. He can actually catch the fucking ball!

if you read the above post i actually disagree with most of your observations - he makes good looking catches and has sure hands but doesnt make contested catches and he's most definitely not the best slot wr in the league: here's a personal list of all the ones i think are better

  • jamison crowder
  • randall cobb
  • cole beasley
  • doug baldwin
  • jeremy kearley
  • stefon diggs
  • sterling shepherd
  • jordan matthews
  • willie snead
  • cameron meredith
  • julian edelman
  • cooper kupp
you could even throw in jeremy maclin if you want... (but he's not really playing in the slot enough for us)

I definitely disagree. He has had a down year but he is definitely a top 3 slot wide receiver and he has been on a crappy offense his entire career. He is getting like 13 targets a game. I don't think any of our receivers get open enough to even get close to 13 targets a game. He isn't going to blow off the yards or touchdowns but he gets those intermediate and close first downs and he finds soft spots in the defense. I think he would be a good answer for the team who has needed to find that kind of guy since Pitta retired.

btw in no way in hell is cole beasley and jordan mathews better than landry.

cole beasley for the last 2 years has been one of maybe the 2 best slot receivers in the nfl - ill give you that jordan mathews has been less impressive of late but cole beasley has been a better receiving option than dez bryant for a little while and thats a testament to how good he's been out of the slot the last 2 years

im not saying hes bad - i dont think he's top 3 but i dont think hes bad - i just dont think hes worth the kind of money wed have to give him in order to make a trade worthwhile (i.e. to re-sign him) he's gonna get big time money and hes not worth it because so many of his touches have to be manufactured

You are seriously undervaluing Landry. Top hands and he doesn't have to contest much, since he gets open. His production is very good, considering scrubs passing to him these 4 years.

However, the latest is that Landry was notified by Dolphins that he won't be traded.

I knew this was only a wet dream. I'm sad now.
