Around the NFL: News and Rumors

I don't blame him one bit. Should've been a first-ballot HoFer.

Should've been 1st ballot no doubt but his diva tendency jackass self has really been exposed. Will Shields should have been a 1st time pick (8x All-Pro) and so should several others. They showed up.

nowhere in the HOF does it say that a player's character is important to their enshrinement - in fact explicitly "Character is NOT a criterion for the Pro Football HOF. Voters are instructed to factor in only on-field exploits. There’s something disturbing about the piling on of TO for electing not to attend a ceremony. His absence doesn’t cheapen the honor for those who are “enshrined”"

Well OJ Simpson is in.

The Cowboys have extended G Zack Martin with a 5 year $66.5M contract with including $30M guaranteed.

In other news, Falcons' WR Julio Jones is a holdout from Falcons Mandatory minicamp as he has informed them he will not be attending. Also Raiders facing the same issue with star DE Khalil Mack who is also to skip minicamp as well.

what's crazy is i thought martin would get more - he's getting the exact same deal as andrew norwell... same yearly average, same years, same money guaranteed at signing

this is a hot take but zack martin might be the best OL (at any position including tackle) in the NFL right now - certainly if im building a team and i get to pick any OL im probably taking martin (or travis frederick or taylor lewan)

I love the fact that T.O declined. Fk em
Yeah, but it really doesn’t have anything to do with “them”. The people doing the voting are all media people and don’t run the HoF so it means nothing to them to not go to the induction ceremony.

I think I would go Tyron Smith. I would rather have a top left tackle if I get to pick any Current Olineman.

I guess I’m buying into the idea that the value of different ol positions has less of a gap now and that Martin is that dominant while smith has moments of mistakes and injuries...

Either way they’re both incredible players

Alright guys so we've missed out on some huge big news items including the Packers signing Aaron Rodgers to a 4-year $134M contract extension. Rodgers will now be the highest paid QB at an average salary of $33M per year. This now ties Rodgers to the Pack until he is 40 years old.

Well... @Ice Bowl what are your thoughts?

Arod deserves every single penny. Theyre in a good position. 2 1st rnders! Rookie cbs arent due contracts till yrs to come.

He's a steelers fan and we've disappointing as of lately, but I have a strong feeling he's going to be wrong about us.

I agree. I think we'll "surprise" a lot of media folks counting us out. Then again I wouldn't want uit any other way. Looking now for the prediction thread but I think we lost it. I'll post mine tomorrow after work. Considering how I did last year.... Bucs vs Raiders SB Prediction. I'm going to attempt to redeem myself big time.

I don't think he'll be exactly pissed off about this.
