Around the NFL: News and Rumors

Hahahaha nothing would be better than the Browns actually having a bright future just to sign McCarthy and ruin everything

Minnesota could see some change.....

on @SNFonNBC halftime: "people are keeping an eye on Minnesota" and Mike Zimmer after that ugly result in Week 17.[/URL]

Both Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman reportedly have contracts that are set to expire after the 2019 season, meaning decisions on their futures will have to be made soon unless ownership elects to let things play out in 2019. To say that this could be an interesting offseason in Minnesota would be an understatement, especially given the circumstances in which the 2018 campaign ended.

Yeah, I thought Zimmer's job is not the safest one around, having in mind he's entering a lame duck season. Did too little too late firing OC. Very good D, 2 elite pass catchers, decent QB... huge disappointment this year.

2020 is the final year of the three year deal Cousins signed and it just happens to be where the QB class is going to be way better. Keep Zimmer and the GM for next year, but go all in for a QB Trade up in 2020 with a new HC and new GM that way the new pairing can get their QB and not be stuck for 2 years with Cousins.

Decent QB sure, but the big criticism against Kirk was his struggles against good teams.

@MikeTrudell
Kirk Cousins career record against winning teams: 4-25.

Mike Mayock new Raiders GM....deal being finalized, announcement forthcoming.

Take it for what you will as this is from our favorite reporter, ***. Apparently Cardinals offered FULL CONTROL to Mike McCarthy which meant firing GM Steve Kiem and letting McCarthy run everything and apparently he turned it down. There is not a Head Coach who would turn down full control over everything, if he turned them down its probably because he has a deal already in place elsewhere like say Cleveland.

GTFOH! Noooooooo.........I like his analysis on NFL Network.
He's a good scout. But he has zero front office experience. Also he may just be more of an advisor to Gruden, who still has all the power carte blanche. My jury is out on this hire, tho Mayock is a highly respected scout.

By the way, my "GTFOH" wasn't aimed at you, but the news itself. That being said, I figured that he didn't. I didn't recall him being a GM or some sort of executive. I don't know the Raiders history of drafting small school guys, but I wonder if they start taking chances if he's hired.

It's cool about the GTFOH....i didnt take it at me....but even if it was, I'm cool with it....thick-skinned, it's all fine.

Anyway, I know it was more as a general exclamation.

But...as per small school history....the Raiders do have a history of drafting small school players. Especially in recent years, under Reggie McKenzie, and at the end of Al Davis' life.

And now it's official: Raiders are hiring NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock as their general manager, league sources tell ESPN. The announcement will be made as early as today per Schefter.

Damn he's been the only reason why I even watched nfl network during draft season. I always liked his style of interviews: honest, no idiotic questions and fair.

Absolutely wild that he’s becoming a gm despite virtually no experience in that domain - he’s basically just gonna be a big dog head scout for Jon Gruden surely...

I’m gonna miss how little time Mayock had for dumb questions and the stupid crap some organisations do on day 3 to announce their picks
