Around the NFL: News and Rumors

WOOHOO we're watching the Steelers implode as we speak.
This made me smile from ear to ear. Scott Van Pelt on the Redskins.....

Scott Van Pelts segment starts :58 in

The folks at 106.7 The Fan have turned their backs on that organization, and it's probably for the better. Bunch of my Skins fans friends feel they have nothing to cheer for. But we all know one thing is for sure: Dan Snyder will not sell the team.

Don't want to take away from the excitement that is the Steelers downfall but coaching news update.

- Chuck Pagano made a real impression on the Broncos, confident and detailed during interview. Broncos have more interviews with Zac Taylor, Brian Flores, Mike Munchak and Vic Vangio.

- Bucs interviewed Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy.

- Adam Gase completed his interview with the Cardinals and the Jets are next.

- Cowboys DC Kris Richard has three interviews lined up with the Jets, Dolphins and Bucs.

- USC OC Kliff Kingsbury has two Head Coach Interviews with the Cardinals and Jets.

Interesting that some playoff coordinators are already having interviews but not wink

Hopefully he gets to stay
If you get a DC as HC you still need to find a great OC and we haven't the pass rushers in place, but his scheme doesn't work w/o above average Cbs. Jimmy, Carr, Humph, Young, Averett and Canady might be the best CB group in the league.

CLE won't let Kitchens interview for OC jobs

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Browns are not letting OC Freddie Kitchens interview for coordinator jobs with other teams.

Kitchens is still under contract, and any coordinator job would be a lateral move. Of course, it is possible, if not probable, Kitchens will be out of his Browns job soon. Kitchens is interviewing for the Browns' head-coaching vacancy. If he doesn't get the gig, the Browns apparently want to afford the new boss the opportunity to retain Kitchens. Baker Mayfield and the offense were transformed under Kitchens' tutelage. Even if his arrival on the open market is delayed, he could easily get another coordinating gig.

The NFL has made a rule adjustment prior to the Playoff Games this weekend.

The new approved ruling, A.R. 15.128, addresses a loophole that would apply in one very narrow circumstance: When an incomplete pass is overturned via replay review to a fumble, and the fumble is recovered in the end zone absent video evidence of a clear recovery.

Previously, the absence of a clear recovery would have kept the end result at an incomplete pass. Now, it becomes a safety, since at a minimum the ball necessarily was recovered by the offense, resulting in two points for the defense.

Bit weird that the coach of the only unit on that D that performed got fired:

Fall Guy: Steelers can OLBs coach Joey Porter

Steelers fired OLBs coach Joey Porter.

Porter is maybe the least deserving Steelers coach of a firing, considering the production from his unit. T.J. Watt was tied for seventh in the league with 13 sacks, and the Steelers as a team led the league in sacks with 52. Porter has a big personality, like a lot of members of the Pittsburgh locker room, so perhaps that played a role. Either way, Porter should quickly find another gig.
