Around the NFL: News and Rumors

With LaFleur now in Green Bay, Josh McDaniels is likely staying in New England another year. McDaniels only known interview was with the Packers. Not surprised by this, his stunt he pulled with the Colts is probably why he only had one team interested in him.

This was the only known interview for #Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, so the LaFleur hire for the #Packers likely means Josh is back in New England for another year.

Would be interesting if McDaniels doesn’t get another opportunity for a while, when he passed over his opportunity in Indy probably due to uncertainty with Luck.

McDaniels: 'Book is closed' on HC interviews

Josh McDaniels said the "book is closed" on head coaching interviews for 2019.

McDaniels' only known interview was with the Packers, who decided to hire ex-Titans OC Matt LaFleur to be their head coach. With that job no longer available, it looks like McDaniels will be back in New England for another season. It will be his eighth year in a row and 11th overall running the Patriots' offense.

Good riddance. You can rot in NE after you take over from BB. When you miserably fail, you're fucking done.

'Good chance' Browns promote Kitchens to HC
13939.jpg

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Browns OC Freddie Kitchens is receiving "strong consideration for the head job."

The Cleveland Plain Dealer adds there's a "good chance" Kitchens is promoted. Per Rapsheet, the Browns have been "making calls to people who’ve worked with" Kitchens, a sign they are seriously considering promoting him. Kitchens' 2018 performance after replacing Todd Haley was excellent, though he had previously never even called plays at any level. It would be a leap of faith for a franchise that is finally on the rise.

they have to keep him and they are interviewing other HCs about keeping him - he's the most important coach in that building bar none at the end of the year and if it means he becomes the HC then that's what they have to do

My understanding is that two finalists for the #Browns head coach job are Freddie Kitchens and Kevin Stefanski. At this point, those are the only two known finalists, so that may be it. @TomPelissero said Stefanski headed there now, Kitchens is still in the building.

well teams are finding their "offensive" young gurus - looks like the first 2 hires are both offensive guys and the Browns 2 finalists are both offensive guys too

Stefanski, Kitchens and Kingsbury are very risky HC hires.
A HC has so much more to do during the week than just coordinating his offense. Stefanski and Kitchens both just got promoted to OC. Obviously Kitchens did a great job.
Does this mean that Williams is back as DC for the Browns? Awkward

given the way that browns defence performed im not sure williams has a job tbh unless kitchens liked him there as a veteran presence

they're risky but these teams have a very obvious desire to prioritise their qb position's health

Taking an inexperienced NFL level head coach with that roster and the drunk GM, not sure this will work out. Rosen is a good fit there but don't think he's the one who will develop Rosen up to his potential. Guess working with Mahomes and his success this season got him the job.

The Raiders are talking to San Diego about playing their home games in the abandoned stadium by the Chargers.

That would be funny to see the Chargers have to come back and play there next season.

would legitimately be one of the funniest things to happen to 2 of the worst owners in football...

would anyone be in the stadium is my question? they're looking for a venue to fill but they might as well play on a random field in the middle of nowhere for all the fans who'll want to watch

Raiders have plenty of fans in San Diego’s and for the fan that tracked 8 hours ever weekend to go to Oakland. This will be closer.
