Around the NFL: News and Rumors

Browns and Bengals were close to a trade for QB AJ McCarron but in typical Browns fashion, they simply ran out of time before the 4PM trade deadline.
if that were to happen that would have been a terrible message to send to kizer. if the stains are that stupid we should try and acquire kizer in the off season from them for a 7th round pick and see if he can be the heir to flacco in 2 years

marty hurney is literally a joke of a gm and i cant believe they got rid of gettleman

Apparently there was some tension within the building about how he handled the team following the Super Bowl. The tipping point was how he went about things with Thomas Davis and Greg Olsen, who both wanted new contracts and were favorites of owner Jerry Richardson. It's not a coincidence that Davis got a one year extension through 2018 after Gettleman was fired. Most likely Gettleman wasn't willing to pay the 34 year old LB past this season and wanted to get younger.

Tension between the front office and the locker room because of unpopular moves he made. They were winning, and the moves he made were unpopular but they were winning and even went to their second Super Bowl. Guess the Panthers players hated winning and appearing in a Super Bowl.

Oh lmao.
They definitely deserve every bad thing that comes their way.

Browns tried to persuade the NFL to overturn the McCarron trade but were denied. I could easily see McCarron going to Washington in the offseason, he knows Jay Gruden's offense and would be a good replacement for Cousins when he signs his $100M contract somewhere that isn't San Fran.

This is Eric Decosta '' We liked Diggs a lot but chris moore was higher on our board and you know our board is always right''.

I have never wanted DeCosta to take a GM job with someone else more than I ever have. I want some fresh perspective in the FO. Ozzie can stay here until he is 100 but DeCosta has got to go. Need someone who can come in and tell Ozzie, it's ok to make a trade for a WR and that hey this is how you give your QB a number one receiver.

He wanted eric ebron and bud dupree. So even if we didn't go for perriman we'd have not hit on anything

ozzie gets way too much credit too. Ed reed was like his meh choice. He targeted 3 guys with 2 of them being busts and the other an average player.

i think that little boom period we had in the late 90's was simply because we were picking in the top 10 every year

couldnt we have use this to our advantage and snagged norwell from them?

the problem is that hurney mostly wants to pay all of his players as much as possible - he was literally brought in because gettleman didnt want to pay some of the older vets there and give them contracts but hurney had in his previous stint handed out money willy nilly - its funny how the panthers got to the superbowl once gettleman finally had unloaded a load of those awful contracts and oh look they are struggling again now that there is no semblance of a plan financially - i fully expect them to throw money at norwell despite all the money they already have tied up in their line - i genuinely think benjamin is gone because hurney realised he couldnt pay him and hey he was one of gettleman's picks anyway

hurney seems to come from the school of thought that you can validate your bad picks by paying them and invalidate your predecessor's good picks by not paying them - the rams used to be so good at that

You cannot be serious, can you?
Kizer is terrible, he doesn't see anything, he does not get a concept of progression through reads and he is very inaccurate.

they should have seen this crap coming (and probably did to be fair i dont want to insult their intelligence) when richardson replaced gettleman with hurney in the first place

i just dont understand why they did it - their offence at this point is just ed dickson

Yeah I could see this as well. However I don’t think this would stop them from drafting a qb either.
