Around the NFL: News and Rumors

If Goodell wasn't so quick in trying to enforce the law himself we wouldn't be in this mess. Elliott was set up by this girl, her friend admitted she had a plan to set him up to ruin him. The police even ssid the girl wasn't credible, yet Goodell put a suspension on him anyway.

Its very alarming that allegations make you guilty.

I found this article on CBS Sports from July where Dan Patrick said the other NFL Owners were pressuring Goodell to suspend Elliott based on other things that happened. Basically, "You punished us, so you have to punish them".

"He's going to get punished for something that happened at Ohio State(Terrelle Pryor), he was not charged for it, with sexual assault, but he's going to be suspended maybe one or two games. What is happening is other owners are saying to the commissioner, hey, you punished us, make sure you punish the Cowboys here," Patrick said. "That's sort of what's going on behind the scenes. And I said, if you're the players association ... asking this person, does he know if the players association would stand up on Ezekiel Elliott's behalf? That's the key. If Ezekiel Elliott's agent is going to say, one game and we're done with this. If the players' association wants to argue and say, hey, he shouldn't be suspended at all -- he wasn't even an employ of the league and you're suspending him. What is happening is, this happened with the Patriots, some of these owners, but not all of them, owners said, what a minute here, what are you doing with the Patriots here? That's how it blew up."

So wait... the owners don't blame Goodell for this despite the mess he has made of every situation and just say hey punish the Cowboys despite the evidence saying otherwise.

Too bad for Denver at Miami, that one would have been a cracker.

Seriously. That's pathetic, but it's the Steelers so of course.

All those moves make sense. I'm guessing the Saints getting some spotlight. The Pack/Steelers game I'm guessing they keeping cuz of fan bases and hopefully good ratings from it.

i feel really bad for you US guys that #flexNOLA didn't work but on the plus side it means that i dont need to stay up late to watch saints rams - coz i have 0 interest in watching steelers packers

only uneducated fans are watching that steelers packers game - packers without rodgers is not a packers worth watching and the steelers are a mostly boring team to watch, i will literally not be watching the game because it has zero juice --> they really should have flexed rams saints into that spot - i would have stayed up til 4am or whenever itll finish in the uk if it was rams saints

i cant believe the nfl insisted on keeping the giants on thanksgiving too... it just rubs it in all the good primetime football they could have with all the heavyweights in the nfc playing each other over the next 5 weeks but instead we get low octane big market boring matchups

Fan base is the reason.......ratings

The prime time games this season has been.... meh. I know when the NFL releases the schedule that everything looks good on paper. NFL can't predict that Rodgers would get injured and be done for the season, Packers/Steelers was made off the whole Rodgers vs Big Ben selling point. They can't predict that the Giants would be the New York team to be almost picking number one overall. I get that, but they allowed flex scheduling to begin in Week 5 but they barely use it. I know MNF is dead locked but why can't MNF or the third Thanksgiving game be flexible as well with the same 12 day notice. Just too much happens out of the NFL's control and we get stuck with boring and terrible games.

i dont have a problem with them predicting wrong but i really do wish they'd flex more - and not have teams in successive weeks in primetime - i think we've now had the dolphins 3 weeks in a row in primetime - that's just stupid scheduling by the nfl no matter what the circumstances

and its week 11 now - they really should be flexing more given how there's so much change in the front running teams this year (in the nfc at least)
