Around the NFL: News and Rumors

Tod Haley is out of Pittsburgh, they'll let him walk (contract expired). OL coach Mike Munchak likely successor as an OC after declining second interview with Arizona, although there are reports that Steelers QB coach Fichtner is a strong candidate, too.

i thought munchak was one of the favourites for the head coaching job in arizona... rumours were that he might take todd haley with him

Can someone please help me understand how the hell the Steelers are supposed to afford Bell even if they franchise tag him? They have 3 million dollars to work with, with no draft picks signed, nor Jordan Berry or Chris Boswell (Yea they are RFA, but no way I team won't jump on them if they use a late round tender) I mean I guess they can back load, for some fucking reason they are projected to have 60 million free next year. They will have Ben, Bell, Brown, Heyward, Tuit, and their entire line signed to massive deals yet we will find our own way to be in cap hell. Whoever is handling our numbers needs to fuck off. I wouldn't mind if we were a great team but 4/5 years no playoffs and no cap room... come on.

You do know that cap room is quite easy to manipulate/create right? It's why Ozzie's usually able to nag a good FA or two. Or in the case of last offseason, three or four reasonably priced people.

I'm not worried about FA for a reason. He usually backloads the hell out of the contracts.
Numbers can be changed.

I would love a world where we get either AR or Pyror without screwing our future over.

I'm really worried that our magical cloud of recruiting is fading. When people use to say Superbowl contender it meant us. If we can get Ar or Pyror in here, ill eat my words tbh.
We're still a more consistent franchise than the majority of the league. Trust me. Not worth worrying about

Yea I just edited it looking back realizing I was being too negative. We were able to lure in Howard and Maclin, both who were being looked at by other teams. Lets just hope the castle upgrades are really sexy

Hopefully, he was the legend and not their scouts. To me, it really seems like the Steelers aren't far from a major downward spiral.

Report is that long time Steelers WR Hines Ward who was on the Coaching Staff as an intern, may end up taking over as the team's new WR Coach. So that would add another long tenured Steeler to the coaching staff joining Joey Porter.

Oh.. It's imminent. People complain now about us but we're not screwed in the long term future. The Steelers have 2 years left of a window max and same goes for New England..

Posters are wrong. The NFL is a long distance race. There's a time to gain traction and start sprinting, but there's also a time to slow down and recover energy. We're in the latter process at the moment. This is the offseason for us to start picking up the pace. We have really good depth we've acquired over the past 2-3 years. Now we need to fix the offense's problems and we'll be one of the better teams in the league. Steelers are fucked the moment Ben retires.

The NFL has announced that Gene Steratore will be the Ref for Super Bowl LII. Which by the way for those who don't remember, Gene was the official who brought out an INDEX CARD of all things to measure a first down during the Sunday Night Game between the Cowboys and Raiders.

Since being an official in 2006, this is his first time getting the call to the officiate the Super Bowl.

Apparently Joey really sucks as a coach. My entire family is filled with Steelers fans, and if you look at it, their linebackers have been really damn bad. (Besides Shazier, but you already know) I mean, Bud Dupree, Jarvis Jones, Sean Spence, VInce Williams, have all failed to develope at all. If they aren't a finished product out of college they are screwed.

Just like we knew the Broncos were screwed once Manning retired because Elway didn't have a legit Plan B after Manning. Whatever happened behind the scenes in New England, their plan B was traded to San Fran and is now their Franchise QB for the next 15 years. So when Brady goes, then the Pats may start to crumble but won't fully fall apart until BB retires. Ben has said he wants to play for at least 3 more years so.....
