Around the NFL: News and Rumors

Everybody still remembers Schwartz Detroit days

teams seemed to overlook that with mcdaniels and many other HC candidates get second chances (and are better for having had the first failed stint because it opens them up to the idea that they are not fully-formed and perfect as coaches) - maybe he's not cut out for a HC job again but it seems weird that he wasnt even really inquired about/to...

He was - the Giants were interested.

If Foster is cut, I fully expect him to end up in Cincy or Dallas as neither care about a player's criminal history.

He's late 1st, so it's not impossible.
They are sitting at $80 mil (cap space) - with Jimmy G's contract accounted for. Cutting Foster would leave them with $5.5 mil dead money.

For God knows what reason, rumors are linking Manzelle to the Ravens. ( Slow and boreing off season I guess)

Probably a snow balls chance in hell there is even a smidgen of truth to the rumors, but it begs the question.

Who would be worse overall for the Ravens?
Kaep or Manzelle?

Cardinals extend GM Steve Keim through 2022. Don't know why, he's had all this time to find a replacement for Palmer yet did nothing.

on a serious note it puts him in line with the new head coach... they both have 4 years to work and a high(ish) draft pick to get a replacement for palmer...

No no no no no!
- that’s a lazy comparison and completely disregards anything about them apart from them being scrappy shorter white guys...

3 main lazy points of comparison:
1) size - but manziel was actually short while mayfield is only slightly shorter that ideal (he’s still over 6 feet tall - he’s slight but not tiny like manziel
2) off the field stuff - manziel was a known partier etc whereas bakers problems are mostly competition oriented whereby he gets a little amped up
3) scrambling - both are known scramblers but again they scramble very differently - manziel would scramble to run with his head down etc but mayfield scrambles to pass with his eyes constantly downfield looking for the receiver

Other than that mayfield is a far superior qb prospect - mayfield reads the defence and I’ve seen evidence on film of him manipulating the safeties with his eyes, he gets nice zip on intermediate throws, he’s got good footwork in the pocket

I’m a little worried about arm strength maybe but I also wonder if it’s partly down to inefficient mechanics (there’s definitely room for a better delivery which might take some of the inconsistent power on deep throws out of his game)

i think mayfield is the best qb in this draft and id choose him over all of them. Still, baker reminds me of johnny. Last time i listened to anyones take on qbs here... 90% of them said ryan mallet>kapernick which blew my fking mind.. however, i agree with you input on johnny scrambling with his head down and baker does not.
