Around the NFL: News and Rumors

Considering what McCown did with them Kirk could do good things with the Jets. And they're in position to get him some good weapons in the draft.

yes they are in very good position to get him some weapons. I also see the Broncos and Vikings making a run. I don't think he ends up in Cleveland.

The Jets also promoted QB Coach Jeremy Bates to Offensive Coordinator and Cousins recently spoke highly of him on NFL Live.

"With the Jets, the first thing that stands out is Jeremy Bates has a connection to coach [Mike] Shanahan," he said. "Both Mike, Kyle [Shanahan], that whole system I played in. Sean McVay comes from that tree. I just think so highly of them as play callers, as offensive gurus if you will. Because Jeremy comes from that tree, it would be exciting to think about working with someone like that, knowing how important Xs and Os and game planning is and having the right play caller."

I think it's between the Vikings and the Jets. The Vikings are in a good position to make a SB run, but the AFC is a bit weaker and the Jets can definitely get a wildcard spot. Also the Jets will give him a guaranteed contract, which is an amazing and rare thing in the NFL.

Breaking News!!!
Marcus Peters to be traded per JLC....yeah I know, it's probably wrong, but here it is
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/10418/marcus-peters

I'm convinced he was our target in 2015. Maybe we could trade Perriman for him straight up. lol

also important to note that these "rumours" and "whispers" that JLC is saying he's hearing only seemed to turn up so that he could post after mike florio suggested marcus peters might be available given the issues earlier in the year but that we'd find out whether that's a legitimate concern if/when the deadline for picking up his 5th year option passes...

JLC never knows things first hand. The reason he isn’t the skins beat writer is due to the fact JLC and Snyder couldn’t stand each other. He hated JLC so much he gave him a great recommendation to the NFL Network to get him out of his face. He only had one yr there and then landed at cbs on his way down.

LOL, don't take this the wrong way, Mania, but every time you mention JLC, I now expect you to provide the backstory between JLC and Snyder.

I actually like some of the Jets weapons on offense they are a underrated group of receivers. No #1 guy but but Anderson and Kearse are a good start. If they can find a #1 guy through FA or draft I think they did a lot more damage than most thought this last year. Kirk is a definite upgrade over Fitzpatrick.

Bucs release DT Chris Baker saving $4M in cap space, the earlier cut of Martin saved them $6.75M in cap space.

People are clearing house holy crap

Martin has been injured and so counting $6.75M against the cap, it didn't make sense to keep him. The Bears cut Freeman because he served a 4 game suspension for PED in his first season with the team. Then he was hit with a 10 game ban last season, two of which he still has to serve in 2018.
