Around the NFL: News and Rumors

It looks like Bell is upset again that Pittsburgh put the tag on him again.
And apparently, he's threatening to sit out half of the season. I'm calling his bluff, but at the same time, I fully support him in whatever he does. Top 3 RB deserves top dollar and if that means a change of scenery, then by all means, go for it!

So the Seahawks are definitely cleaning house a bit:

Sherman is expecting not to be a Seahawk this year

And they’ve just traded Bennett to the eagles for another player and swapping a 5th rounder and a 7th rounder... (I was sure he was going to the falcons tbh but certainly not the eagles given their lack of cap space)

I know earl Thomas is apparently staying but if he sees everyone leaving then he could try and force his way out

I think kam chancellor isn’t definitely coming back either
I remember a few months that this was going to be the end of the Seahawks defense as we know it. I'm also aware that both Kam and Avril could (that's the keyword) retire with their neck injuries. As for Thomas, he's a future Cowboy when he gets the chance.

You don't pay top dollar to a RB this day in age. I wish it was the case and it wasn't so reliant on the passing game. Though by all means if the Steelers want to destroy their cap, I'm not going to say no.

Looks like Seattle's suffering the consequences of trying to keep the Super Bowl team together by paying everyone.

That was a great team though. They should have had at least 2 rings together, if not for stupid play call vs NE.

Yep..... Brady would still only have 4 rings. Or still be chasing his fourth ring if the Falcons didn't blow the biggest Super Bowl lead in history. The NFC West is certainly going to be different this year. Seattle is going to rebuilding their defense, meaning are they going to be able to focus on their offensive line to keep Wilson protected more? The Rams are getting rid of players that don't fit Phillips' 3-4 defense even though Quinn had 8 sacks on the year last year and did well, so I don't know why they traded him. Granted more so they are trying to extend Donald and Joyner it seems and they are eliminating the cap space in order to do so. Arizona is on a rebuild, and a week from agency and the 49ers have got to be the favorites to win the NFC West this year.

“Richard Sherman will be released, I’m told, in the next 2 days” -- Mike Silver on NFL Total Access

But Seahawks would be open to re-signing him at a lower rate, per Silver.

You don't, but Bell isn't just a RB. We as Ravens fans would be one of the first to know how lethal he is a runner and a pass-catcher. Our LBs and safeties can't hang with him. Freeman got a 5yr $41 something mil contract with about $22M guaranteed (I think?). You mean to tell me that Bell ain't worth that?

As for Seattle, we kinda saw it coming. Like I mentioned before, there were reports of wholesale changes come this offseason and it seems that it's coming into fruition before the legal tampering has even thought to begin.

Silver also believes the Seahawks are “open for business” on Earl Thomas if a trade offer overwhelms them.
Now we got 2 safeties, but I think we should be interested in him. Of course I'm joking, but I wanted to keep the streak going of saying we should get [insert player who becomes FA or available in trade].

The Rams are at it again!!!! The Rams have acquired Broncos CB Aquib Talib from the Broncos. Rams send a 5th rounder to Denver to reunite Talib and DC Wade Phillips.

Out of the left field. I just saw somewhere Broncos and Pats started talks about Talib.

I'm starting to think the NFL may want to look into moving free agency up a bit at this point. With all these trades happening before free agency begins, maybe starting it at the end of February.

Rams secondary currently has Sam Shields, Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Lamarcus Joyner already and they havent even hit free agency yet

i think wade phillips saw what jimmy g did with no receivers last year and so the rams are doing everything they can to put pieces in place to at least slow down jimmy g
