Around the NFL: News and Rumors

Jane Slater is apparently about to drop some fire on the dez bryant situation...
and her take earlier seemed to be that if the cowboys had offered dez the chance to take a paycut he would have taken it - and from some of the other quoted comments from dez earlier it sounds like he feels like he's being scapegoated for the failures of that offence despite him being a major reason for the lack of dissent in 2016 when dak was being given the reigns when dez said 'ride or die'

but if dez not even being offered a paycut (even though he would have taken it apparently) is not a bombshell then i have no idea what's coming up - i have no idea if this will be a let down or not but 2-3 reporters and rapsheet have already said to watch for Jane Slater in the last 10 mins or so - so something has to be coming

this whole thing sounds like its carnage from a dumpster fire of an organisation:

Per Mike Leslie: "Interesting text from a now fmr. teammate of @DezBryant, who said he was “a great teammate”: “Coaches prolly had a problem with him ‘cause he would call them out like they do us... that’s prolly why they let him go.” Went on to say “He called them out publicly. That’s a no no.”"
and this from Ronald Leary formerly of the Cowboys: "Boyy if @DezBryant get the chance to play Dallas twice a year

I’d pay good money to see that."

this photo isnt even 4 years old from the last time the cowboys clinched the division title - they're ghosts now

Until Jerry leaves, I don't think the Boys will ever prosper. If they do, it'll be in spite of him and his puppet who has the job title of HC. I mean yeah our cap space didn't look good from the inception of this year's free agency, but theirs were worse than ours. Now I could be wrong, but have they made any significant moves in FA outside of signing Hurns?

Huge disappointment as it is.
If he was a Raven, that would have been a nightmare.
Yeah. He has the ability to be an all-pro linebacker, and is just wasting it. You know something was up when a 'bama defender that good is there for the taking, and Ozzie goes, "You know what? We're good. We'll pass on this one."

If anything that should really have tipped off other teams

And to think the 9ers had him as their 3rd overall player - imagine if the bears had taken Thomas at 2 and their number 3 pick had turned out like this

Imagine what they would be like if Stephen Jones didn't have some veto votes.

I just want to emphasise the NFL’s inability do deal with DV issues again... and the serious inconsistencies with which they deal with DV and how the concern with domestic violence incidents seems to be superficial at best:

A year ago Tramaine Brock was arrested after an alleged incident that involved his children’s mother and left her with no visible injuries (I’m not at all trying to insinuate nothing happened although the charges were later dismissed due to lack of evidence) - Tramaine Brock was released almost immediately despite the nebulous nature of the allegations (again I’m not assuming just showing details that emphasise the inconsistencies in the NFL’s dealings)

Fast forward to this offseason and Reuben foster is arrested after an incident that hospitalised his partner(?) and left her with multiple injuries after allegedly essentially beating her... Foster is still on the team

The Nfl takes domestic violence very seriously... unless you’re a super talented first round pick...

Welcome to the real world.

A great example of elitism. We'll see if she shows up to court.

Or didn't snatch the draft card off Jerry when he wanted Manziel in 2014. Passing on Martin for Manziel would have made things... interesting.

Yep and Martin could be our LG and we could have a different MLB.

The Eagles are releasing Daryl Worley. This means the Panthers got Torrey Smith for free.
BTW any news on M.Bennett?

Not exactly. Consider that DeCosta when asked about the Mosley pick said he was their best available player on their board at 17, and even at the 10th pick. Martin didn't go until 16, so we still would have took Mosley and passed on Martin.

huh? your logic doesnt follow... just because martin went at 16 doesnt mean he wasnt higher than mosley on our board...
they both could have been top 10 players on our board... and i dont find that to be an unreasonable assumption given that i can almost immediately eliminate about a couple of players who of the top of my head were definitely rated behind both of them on our board that year: bortles and gilbert

Worth noting he was tasered and arrested after found passed out in his car and attacking police. Also, gun was found in that car.
