My response would be why would you want to continue to put all the pressure on Lamar to prop up the run game? Complimentary football, regardless of the back, is what’s most important. We don’t currently have that with Gus and Justice.

I'd love to have Javonte Williams. He has another year on his contract and we wouldn't have to worry about extending him in the offseason. If we don't go RB, I'd like to see us make a stab at Chase Young for the right price.

I really want to trade for an impactful player, but if we make no moves we’ll be fine. Lots of parody this year and we’re in the mix for a top two seed as is.

OK, but the only way to not eat void years is to keep the player on the roster. In order to keep them on the roster, you also have to pay them to stay on the roster. People need to realize that salary cap isn't "real" in terms of how a business operates. Cash is the real business, and I don't think an Owner is going to sign off on paying somebody more $ just to avoid some salary cap impact that a team could easily navigate through.
Lets take OBJ for example. He made $15M this year. He won't be back for another $15M. If that's his market, he won't be here.
IF he's gone, he counts $11M against the cap
IF he returns, he counts at least ~$4M. That's the $2.7M from this years deal + the vet minimum salary. I don't think OBJ plays for the vet minimum, so I would imagine his cap hit would be at least what it was this year, which is close to $4M.
So realistically, if you bring him back on a pretty cheap deal, he's going to count at least $6-7M against the cap next year, which is basically double what he costs this year.
Today, is that worth it? I don't have the answer. But I think its important that people contextualize what void years are and what they aren't.

I meant they should use more void years to recoup that cap space on other contracts. To continue with an aggressive approach to cap management for the duration of Lamar's SB window rather than making this a one year push and reverting back to conservative cap management.
I don't want to them to do anything crazy like keep OBJ around to dodge his specific void year or anything.
I agree it's down to the owner, but Steve Biscuits signed on for the $15 M or so Beckham and Agholor got, so I don't think he's going to go crazy if the salary cap doesn't eat that amount asap, as opposed to after Lamar's prime. Whether he'd be willing to add cash to that is a different question.
(He's said he wants to sell at some point, so he may even look at cash improving the product on the field as an investment when it comes to maximising his return - if he plans on selling relatively soon.)

Conceptually, agree. Dependent on Owner appetite though. Void years requires higher cash outlays in earlier years (cash over cap concept), which some Owners don't want to routinely do. It's essentially voluntarily agreeing to make less $ in the short run.
I have my doubts void years are in the long term playbook. They did two void years on Lamar's deal, but they're low $. They did not do any void years on Broderick Washington's deal, who was basically the last long term deal they handed out after Lamar signed.
I think they'll need to use them situationally, and possibly for the larger deals. Obviously when we get to 2026 and Lamar has a $74.6M cap hit, he either needs an extension or void year restructure to make that work.

Agreed. I'm sure there will be a few traded here and there, but I don't think the whole like fire-sale from the likes of Denver, Tennessee, etc is coming. Giants are probably on that list too, and I don't think its happening.
A lot of these teams are literally like one game out of a playoff spot. I don't think anybody really thinks that teams like the Steelers, Jets and Browns are significantly better than the Broncos and Titans. The gap between those teams is very small, and I'd argue its shrinking.
