Signings, Cuts, Trades

God dammit the last thing we need is you being right about something
Just mention a guy you want to trade for and let rmc tell you why it’ll never happen so the trade will come true

agree and feel like some of that 108m in guarantees will probably be included in this year. I wonder how many years of base salary will be guaranteed. Atleast 2, which is normal, but maybe 3.
Well I mean he's getting a sizeable signing bonus this year, so 100% of that is gtd. What it looks like beyond 3 I have no idea.

For anyone interested. After today's signing, here's how the current Top 10 WR contracts by average annual value compare when each deal is scaled relative to the 2026 salary cap:

1. Ja'Marr Chase - $43,421,562
2. Jaxon Smith-Njigba - $42,150,000
3. Justin Jefferson - $41,276,429
4. CeeDee Lamb - $40,097,103
5. A.J. Brown - $37,738,449
6. D.K. Metcalf - $35,600,287
7. Drake London - $35,263,500
8. Garrett Wilson - $35,060,888
9. Zay Flowers - $35,000,000
10. Terry McLaurin - $34,881,089

I dnt remember that but i do remember peoplr saying he wouldnt get top 5 money

tbf by the time he starts playing on that new deal
it won't be top 5 money anymore - probably not even close

these guys are likely getting paid before the end of next offseason:
George Pickens
Puka Nacua
Nico Collins

then there's these "elite" WRs who probably will need their deals redone because their cap hits start ballooning and because they'll no longer be paid at the top of the market now that JSN and Ja'Marr reset it:
Jefferson, Lamb, St Brown

then you've got the 2024 WR draft class guys who suddenly can get paid next offseason:
Nabers, Harrison Jr, Odunze, McConkey

not saying all those guys get done - and with that last group there's no guarantee their deals come in above Flowers (although with good seasons ahead i would) - but i reckon at least a few of the guys get done and suddenly Zay's sitting at 8-12th highest paid WR in the league which is a much easier to stomach deal (not that it was difficult to stomach anyway)

Adding Donald just makes me even more sure that those so called "smart betters" who took +350 on the Rams missing the playoffs, aka betting on the Rams to be the first preseason Super Bowl favorite in 18 years to do so, feels like the craziest bet ever. Smart betters might not actually be all that smart.

Is it fair to count the 2024 draft guys when your premise is that it wont be top 5 money by the time the money starts getting paid?

sure - but i was talking about it his ranking assuming we do think of him as currently ranked at 35m/yr

in reality, if Nabers goes off, he may well reset the top of the market big-time (in new money) but it won't feel as bad for the Giants to give it because he'll also have those 2 years that Zay has

but these guys will still be knocking Zay down the rankings of highest paid WRs regardless of whether you take into account the 2 years remaining or not (also possible that some of those guys get extensions before the 5th year option gets optioned)
