Signings, Cuts, Trades

I think they have 2 picks each of the first 4 rounds. I'd have to go back and check though.

I wonder if they're now a trade up candidate? Jameson probably falls into their laps late 1st.

there will be a receiver for them to take with 1 of their 1st rounders for sure

Would he be a day1 starter at C though?

it's unclear - he's never played there before outside of the senior bowl so would be a development/risk in that sense (albeit ultimately if it doesnt work out you can just plug him in at LG and carry on) - it's possible he makes the transition but no guarantee

he'd be a day 1 starter most likely but no guarantees it's at C

Also Key and Green are not good players. Like I get we need to add bodies but are they even NFL average caliber? I'm not so sure. Somebody else weigh in please. If we are going to sign one, who would you prefer

pretty interesting commonalities between both players - both spent a ton of snaps reduced inside to rush from the interior and both are still really young... rasheem green's still only 24 and arden key's 25

couple of key differences though...
green was a starter and played over 800 snaps including against the run - but on the downside his pressure stats are more volume based and he's not got a great pass-rush efficiency
key is a much better rusher - but he is only that, a pass-rush specialist

i'd be excited by the addition of key for sure - adds some quickness and violence to our interior (and outside) pass rush
green i'd be more so-so about... not sure i really see those pass rush traits that i'd want

I would absolutely put him at LG and let him learn to be C if we want that. I don’t think many prospects are day 1 starters for C. It’s just not a position where you draft a guy and he comes in and lights up the league. It happens but those guys are few and far between

I heard in Macdonalds scheme the rushers actually rush.
Oh yea. Oweh is about to put up double digits. That’s also why I was so excited about Z coming back. He wouldn’t be put in coverage on 3rd and long or be a spy by Wink

Thank you!

this is the 2nd time you've said this - who is that day 2 option?
at the moment, at best i can see someone like cole strange or maybe dylan parham being late day 2 options and maybe brock hoffman on day 3

unless we're looking to convert zion johnson from guard but he wont make it anywhere near our 2nd rounder

the majority of center options in this draft just aren't fits scheme-wise, traits-wise or threshold-wise for what the ravens historically look for at the position
I don't know, but its also not my job to know. It may not even be a day 2 option.
I guess it goes back to my original question... why are you in a position to be certain we're not going that route?

I understand the scheme fit aspect and the traits aspect. It's also possible that the Ravens either don't agree that they're theme-specific, or that we can teach them/mold them to do it our way.

Are you evaluating strictly Centers or are you looking at the entire population of Guard prospects also? Because, again, it's not exactly uncommon for an NFL team to take a player who didn't play Center barely at all, or not at all, in College, and convert them to a Center.

The overall premise of this for me is simple... what has the FO done, so far, to show you they're concerned about making a "splash" upgrade at C? They let our incumbent C walk out the door for what is essentially peanuts. They've not really been linked to any of the Centers who were available, outside of initially on Jensen, and many of them have already been locked up. I don't see a trade market materializing either.

So unless they plan to sign Tretter soon and nobody has wind of it, they're either going with somebody who's already on the roster, or they feel confident enough that they can find somebody in the draft to at least compete for the job. The latter, to me, looks more and more likely every single day.

Anyone else getting concerned on Brown’s next deal based on these recent WR extensions? I know Brown isn’t Hill nor Adams but I legit think he will either be out of our price range at above 20min or will not be a tag option depending on Lamar because he could eat up those tags.
With the new salaries for WR, I don't know if franchise tag is an option. It'll be well north of $20M by the time Brown comes up for a tag. Ravens are not going to be able to afford that one year cap hit, even if Lamar is extended by then.

In terms of where he would land, I'm not really sure. The prices of WRs are going up, but there's three guys between $28-30M now, and the rest are down around $18-20M, so there's a massive drop off in prices. Williams, Cooper all around $20M, and I don't know if Hollywood would be more or less than those guys.

I doubt he leaves without a contract. Pain.
