This is the NFL. A team is more than capabale of going from great to crap in 1 year.
Yup. And I'm seeing a lot of teams in the AFC that would fall into that category.
Is New England better today?
Is Houston better today?
Is Tennessee better today?
If all we're doing is reacting to what we've seen so far (which obviously is short-sighted), why would I be concerned about our competition?
Nobodies gonna be able to sell that the Patriots or Texans (two of our main competitors in the AFC) have improved this offseason so far. Patriots may have easily cut their win total in half just through March.
KC really hasn't added anybody, which is expected, given that they're spending all their money to keep the band together. Tennessee lost quality Oline play, and spent all their money trying to keep the band together also.
Pittsburgh is using their entire offseason to pray that Ben comes back healthy, because they have pretty much no ability to upgrade their roster significantly. And Cleveland did what Cleveland does... add a pass catcher they don't need, and not address the defense, which is where their focus should be.
I don't really care if the Ravens exit FA better than they were before... we didn't exit FA last year better off either. Didn't seem to matter much did it?
We went 14-2 last year with a below average DL, a below average pass rushing group, and probably the worst group of inside linebackers in the league.
Maybe those units will improve when its all said and done, but maybe they won't. There hasn't been an NFL team in the history of the universe that addressed all its "areas of weakness" in a single offseason. Ravens wont be the first.
