Signings, Cuts, Trades

Well, some of you pointed it out earlier in the year/offseason, but not signing Lamar earlier is coming back to haunt us. The Bills signing Allen is going to look like a bargain. Lamar has to have a huge smile on his face looking at the Watson contract....

it's not like we don't want to. this is lamar going at his own pace.

Tough one.. i dnt think he will get more than them 2.. unless he wins SB this season or take us really far

here to fight more fires whenever im needed lol...
et voila

Offence:
QB: Lamar, Huntley
RB: JK, Gus, Justice Hill
FB: Pancake Pat, Ben Mason (lol)
TE: Mark Andrews, Nick Boyle, Josh Oliver
WR: Hollywood, Duvernay, Boykin
WR: Bateman, Tylan Wallace, Proche
LT: Stanley
LG: Tyre, Cleveland, Powers
C: Mekari?, TCC
RG: Zeitler
RT: Moses, James

Defence:
DT: Wolfe (is he still gonna be here?), Broderick Washington
DT: Madubuike
NT: Pierce, Isaiah Mack
EDGE (RUSH): Oweh, Ferguson
LB: PQ
LB: Welch, Harrison
EDGE (SAM): Tyus, Daelin Hayes
CB: Marlon, Marshall (needs to not be cursed)
SS: Chuck, Geno, TJ
FS: Williams
CB: MP, Kevon Seymour
DB: Brandon Stephens (also safety), Ardarius Washington (also safety)

then obviously the wolfpack 2.0 (they've got to find a better name for it than that without morgan cox lol) on special teams

Not much missing on offence beyond a C upgrade over mekari and a swing tackle - a C upgrade over Mekari might be enough on its own because Mekari could then be the swing tackle although you probably want to see if you can find a developmental swing tackle anyway - other than that you're looking at RB depth and maybe a TE3

Lots of work to do on defence basically everywhere but some of it is depth but we need to find: at least an EDGE, at least 2 corners but more likely 3 (and probably at least one has to be able to play the nickel unless they're already sold on Washington), a LB or 2, multiple DTs

some of that will be fixed with low level signings like if we can find a way to re-sign westry and bring back bynes or board at LB, and the picture at DT looks very different if Calais comes back - but either way those things need to happen either in free agency over the coming months (doesnt even necessarily need to be pre-draft) or in the draft
The OL isn’t bad but has some ? but maybe less than last year had. Big hope is Stanley recovers. I think Ricard is Boyle insurance. I fully expect Boyle to be on his final year here this year. Our WR corps is actually pretty nice, same with RB but I’d draft a guy at both spots if we can. I think you should always hit WR and RB almost every year but RB can be UDFA too.

That defense though…yuck. This may be the worst DL we have ever had done paper. Those edges are also ugly. LB corps looks like a corpse too. Secondary is all we got. Yeah some big question marks on the front 7.

It is pretty bad for an OLine (fortunately free agency and the draft are not done). If they were done though you have a below average LG, poor C play, and you are probably forced to put Philips at T because the other options are very very bad whereas he is just a below average RT. 3/5 of your OLine being poor is pretty bad though. Fortunately there is still a lot of time left in FA to rectify a lot of it.

In this set-up right now it’s unlikely Phillips plays OT even now because we’ve got 4 tackles ahead of him

Somebody who wants to start and play more than just Special Teams...
Board obviously would like to start, but he's more of a role player. He's played 600 snaps on defense the last two years, so more than just special teams, but I agree, he wants a better chance of starting in Detroit.

Right. I'm just saying that last year would have been probably the absolute max playing time he was ever getting on this defense. And while I'm not super privy to the LB depth chart in Detroit, I would imagine he'd have a much better opportunity for defensive playing time there than here.

And because I think some fans, particularly on here and on Twitter, think that players pick their teams based almost exclusively on who has the best chance to win. Fans should have figured out by now that, even if the money is comparable, that's not always the case. They're football players. I don't think there's a backup in this league who is like "yeah, I'm just happy to be a backup". They all think they're great, they all think they can start, and they all think they can play well. And some guys want to go where that opportunity is maximized. And if that means making less or even winning less, so be it.

right, he will have more of an opportunity and last year he played 330+ snaps, only about 50 more than 2020. Surprisingly it wasn't as much more than I expected.

Could it be possible the Ravens are prioritizing signing Campbell before trying to sign Tretter? Not that one necessarily has to do with the other but could it be a money thing? Pay Campbell first abd see what's left
How cool would it be to get Tretter, Wagner, Campbell, and Houston at this point prior to the draft? If Z. Smith had replaced Houston, even better but he is a turncoat, unfortunately.
