Signings, Cuts, Trades

It would be a great start to the weekend if Moore is traded to us tomorrow

They do not have the cap space to trade him (at least factoring in next year) and the Ravens do not have the cap space to pay him next year and I am not sure giving up a 1 for a 1 year rental is ideal which is probably at least what it would take..

The Jets are 4-2 and I doubt they be willing to trade one of their starting receivers to another AFC team. The Panthers are in search for a new head coach. I doubt they want to trade their only proven/star receiver(somewhat) especially if they looking to hire a pretty good head coach candidate.. It's not happening guys

Holy.... the Panthers just robbed the 49ers in this trade. For as much time as McCaffrey has missed in recent years, this is a hell of a deal. I'd give up our 1st for DJ Moore and start there.

Wow , that’s a shocker. CMC is one of the best when healthy , but that’s not often these days. That’s some serious draft capital for an older back

I think it all depends on resigning Lamar and the structure of the deal. We have the ability to create some space for next year

Right, but that extension has to be in place before you make the trade. You can't trade for somebody who's expensive next year (like DJ Moore) and then pray that you can sign Lamar, because if you can't, you're screwed.

DJ isn't even part of the discussion in my opinion, because its pretty clear to this point the Panthers aren't trading him, and we can't afford him anyway.

And making that move only gives Lamar more leverage

Trading away DJ Moore doesn't make too much sense for the Panthers right now. They have him locked in long term and I'm even looking beyond the cap consequences. For a team going through a rebuild that is also acquiring capital that could easily be used on a QB, there's no sense in taking away a weapon for a young guy that's locked in for a good length at a reasonable rate. Now, if they get to the offseason and don't find a QB and are willing to take a full dive into the rebuild, then it might make a touch more sense. But trading him right now gets you nothing more than what you'd get 5-6 months from now. Might as well hold onto him, see how the offseason starts/goes, and then you can make a decision if you really have to. But there's no sense in tearing that piece down right now.

They would also lose 35m with their 10m in cap space it is prohibitive. All they would get is draft picks, but they would still need a WR with one of those draft picks we or anyone else would send them. Not only that, but his contract is reasonable considering the WR money that was thrown around this past offseason.

They'll trade him... for a first rounder + some more, which nobody will give them.

Otherwise, they're not trading him. If you're "rebuilding", first thing you're doing is trying to find a QB. Last thing you're doing is finding a QB and then trading away all of his assets prior to him getting there. Moore is affordable, and he's young. Perfect asset for a new QB.

This is where I'm at. You already have the good player. Why trade him and take a massive cap hit, just to turn around and hope you can replace him? They already have the capital to get a QB if there's one they like. Stick with it, keep an already good asset in house, and see if that helps that new QB grow.

Well it seems unlikely at this point any trades will be made. Nothing too surprising there. Means this team is only going to get better by the additions of Gus, Kolar, Bowser, Ojabo, and Marcus Williams. Which ain't too shabby. No team gets that much talent at the trade deadline. Put it together guys!

I mean I wouldn't say it's unlikely at this point. Still more than a week to go and we don't even know who is on the block. We never would have thought Marcus Peters was at the time. Also doesn't have to be a big name necessarily. Not that I advocate for it by any means, but you could always see a Ty Montgomery type of trade where it's a guy that is moved for virtually nothing and we see an opportunity to add depth.

I thought the deadline was tomorrow. Is it next Saturday?

I know it's never good to reinjure, but is there any chance that this cleanup procedure could actually be better for JK long term?

According to this https://www.nfl.com/news/ravens-rb-j-k-dobbins-to-undergo-knee-surgery-miss-4-6-weeks, they are removing scar tissue from the previous surgery, so I'd say yes. Seem like less of a re-injury than we thought if that article is correct, which is a small silver lining in this shite.
This isn’t surprising either and was what I was hoping. Looked like less of a structural thing and more of a comfort thing. That scar tissue can be a bitch. Would imagine on that one hard plant that some of it tore off
