and we still got maybe the most reasonable of the OG deals tbh
especially given still waiting on the guaranteed money details

all the other IOL have beaten their contract projections, simpson's was right on the money
I think Isaac Seamalo was a really reasonable deal.

I imagine Simpson's familiarity factored into being signed, but I'd have loved Seamalo for a tad more.

But can you negotiate in good faith with free agents right now with that extension not being locked in? Can’t we not trade for Crosby without at least a restructure?
They would not commit to that kind of trade unless they are sure. So if there's no extension, they will restructure.

Seumalo is also 4 years older and hasn't played a full season in a couple of years. They've really valued guys who can play a full season and not fall off the later it gets in the season.
I knew I spelled his name wrong...

I didn't realize on the health; just recognized him as a pretty good name at guard and saw he signed a reasonable contract.

EDC probably been eyeing Simpson as the “veteran” guard target the whole time and thinking that and Lindy resigning would suffice until draft day. Wonder if that guy is tilting right now.

They knew last night that Linderbaum most likely wasn't happening but doesn't mean they didn't give it their best before it was official. They have a backup plan for that cap room.

It’s bullshit. It’s a hindrance to the FO and it only hurts him as a player. If he wants to handle business on his own he needs to be a fucking professional about it.
I'm trying not to rant, but it's weird to me that people hold this opinion about Lamar when I'd argue he's one of three non-rookies who more than justified his contract extension (and then some).

There are several players who I'd go at well before Lamar.

To be fair I’d say only one big hole and that’s C. G was so bad last year we’re already upgraded with Jones and Simpson. It Bullock plays average then we have a good OL that is easily better than last year’s monstrosity. Our OL coach is also good.

I also just remembered we have Vinson, who I like.

Simpson is a C-Tier player.

It’s like getting a 69 on the test and hoping the teacher curves it.

I feel nothing with that signing. Would’ve been more excited if we gambled on a Alijah Vera-Tucker. Go big or go home.

You’re going off about the wrong thing. Nobody said he didn’t justify the extension, he’s more than earned it, he just needs to sign the damn thing and stop dragging his feet about it. It’s been discussed all offseason, why does it have to come down to the day before the league year starts or later?

We need to make a real push to keep awuzie. Our cb room will be a problem if we don’t have a real solution to cb3 and he’s a proven solution.

Yeah but those several players wouldn't add up to the cap relief he could possibly give you. I think the point fans miss is that the irony exists that Lamar has the ability to both help the team AND make more $ in one day. Nobody is asking for paycuts or anything like that. They're trying to give him more $, and he's slow walking it for some reason nobody seems to understand.

As I've said from beginning... IF this is posturing to basically say "I'm not signing until I see what the new regime looks like", that's fine. Totally valid thing to do. But I also have no idea what the purpose of trading for Crosby is, or being even mildly active in FA, if you don't think Lamar is here in two years or even next year. So either he's given assurances to the team that he plans to extend here, in which case I really don't know what this whole dog and pony show is about, or the Ravens are really just praying that he does sign again. Which is a retarded move on EDCs side.

Lamar is a great player and they love him.

Doesn’t mean he isn’t a complete pain in the ass to deal with on the business side of the house.

It’s been better this year though. We’ll see if that optimism I heard is founded or not.
