What I meant is that if he shouldn't be drawing ire for NOT signing an extension. You’re going off about the wrong thing. Nobody said he didn’t justify the extension, he’s more than earned it, he just needs to sign the damn thing and stop dragging his feet about it. It’s been discussed all offseason, why does it have to come down to the day before the league year starts or later?
FA Safety contracts have jumped up by a lot this year, but there are a lot of them on the market and more in the draft. We should wait the position out until the teams willing to give them $8-15 M runs out and see who's left. We don't need a superstar back there alongside Hamilton and Starks.Sheesh these contracts are absurd
Lamar isn't going anywhere even if he doesn't sign an extension and he only stands to gain money with each passing year.Nobody is asking for paycuts or anything like that. They're trying to give him more $, and he's slow walking it for some reason nobody seems to understand.
But losing money overall. Could have been approaching a 3rd extension in a couple of years but hasn’t even hit his 2nd yet. Waiting gives him more per contract but he’s netting less contracts over the course of his career at this rate, which ends up being a net loss on what we could be doing.Lamar isn't going anywhere even if he doesn't sign an extension and he only stands to gain money with each passing year.

The difference is they don’t want to extend those guys though. The only way those contracts get “better” is via a pay cut. Lamar catches the heat because there is something that can be done and it’s been hard to get there for various reasons. That's a fair point.
My overall point in all this is that while Lamar could sign an extension and it'd be great (I'd love for it to happen), fans are so concerned about his cap hit when there are several other players who are accounting for significant cap and not providing nearly the level of play needed to justify the cap hits.
Yes, I understand Lamar can clear up the most cap by himself, but it bothers me to see people mad at Lamar for the cap when there are way worse offenders.

Just saw we lost ardarius Washington. He was better than Gilman, don’t like that one

Harbaugh you forgot your boy Faalele!
I can’t claim to speak for everyone, but I just feel like the hard part with Lamar is that him having an agent means this stuff doesn’t happen. We’re probably not negotiating with him at all right now because it gets done last year. Just feels like a long drawn out process for something that should be easy. Just don’t think he gets the best advice within his circle and it’s frustrating at times.Yes, I understand that they don't want to extend those guys.
My point still is that there are way worse cap hits than Lamar and fans are getting mad at Lamar when he's actually justified his cap hit, rather than being upset at the Ravens for bad value contracts, like Roquan, or restructuring Marlon to the point that he's not really a viable cut candidate.
It's weird to me to be solely upset with Lamar.
To be fair, he could have Linderbaum's agent and then we'd have a double whammy of difficulty.I can’t claim to speak for everyone, but I just feel like the hard part with Lamar is that him having an agent means this stuff doesn’t happen. NooooooGiven how well Tony Jefferson played last year in Minter's system, getting 4 interceptions last season. I wonder if a reunion could be in the works in Baltimore.
