Signings, Cuts, Trades

Normal perspective for normal people.
I mean in this case, his perspective wouldn't be different. And I'd argue he would actually be more cautious than a normal person, because a) he has the ability to mediate the pain at a better level than a normal person would and b) he gets paid the same amount whether he recovers quickly or slowly.
There was no version of reality where he was just going to generously forfeit $22M out of the goodness of his heart. If he can play this year, he'll want to, because he has no gtd $ left after '26, which means if he sits the season, the likelihood of him playing for the Ravens (or maybe anyone) again is very low. And if he does, it certainly wouldn't be anywhere close to the $22.5M he's owed in '27.
If he can't, he will spend the year on IR, collect his $22M, and either retire or get cut next year.

That's all we needed to get rid of Bateman! /s

Real talk, they wanted him on the PS before he broke his collarbone. They've worked him out several times over the last 6 months and were just waiting on him to get fully healthy.
Usually im the first to call players like this ass lol but he actually looks useable

I'm not saying that trading Bateman is strictly necessary or mandatory. I am saying that if there's a good deal and it needs to be sweetened, Bateman is my pick. That's all.

I don't think he's indispensable.

Madubuike is stretching his paychecks (which is great), he did everything possible to come back in rehab, now he's having surgery, then seven months of recovery, and so on.

The reality is that at his position, with his power and the competition, a nerve injury in the neck is a career-ending blow. We all know it, we just don't want to accept it.
The Ravens are slaves to their contract, and Beeks is enjoying his. That's all
Dam its 7 months recovery?

Madubuike will want to collect his guaranteed money and then retire. His rehabilitation and training photos are very nice, but any normal person in their early twenties with the potential to become quadriplegic (nerve injury in the neck) will want to earn as much money as possible to secure their future and then retire.
He has surgery, comes back, trains, doesn't feel comfortable, continues rehab, trains, makes contact, it still bothers him, then the cold weather comes, it still bothers him, and that's how the season goes.
That's what any normal person would do. Madubuike will collect his 22 million and not play this season.
That's my prediction

Except the reports and the actions (aka getting surgery) say the exact opposite of this

Edit to add: he also needs to do none of the dog and pony show because he got hurt playing football. His money is protected.

Yes, but if the player says he's in pain or discomfort, no report or doctor can deny it.
It's all in Beeks' hands, and his best option, regardless of what anyone says or thinks, is to continue rehabilitation and not play again, with 22 million in his bank account

He's protected so it does not matter.

That's your opinion on what his best option is. You literally have no way of knowing that.

Bengals fanbase will not shut up about trashing Hendrickson and saying just run the ball at him. I really wasn’t crazy about the signing but I liked it but now i really hope he balls out

He is protected regardless, not sure where you are trying to go with this.

The news is encouraging and he's clearly been trying to get back

I don't think the Ravens brought in Trey to play 3 downs the way the Bengals needed
They’re such a bitter and jaded fanbase that deserves more misery, just like Cleveland. You’d think they won 3 of the last 5 super bowls the way their fanbase talks and acts

tbh you do got a point.. shit is a neck injury at the end of the day

I think that's the ideal scenario. They aren't giving up on him necessarily, but I also don't think they want to count on him if that makes sense. Prepare as if he's going to be a letdown and enjoy the bonus production if he's not.

we don't know exactly what doyle's offence will look like
but you need more than 2 WRs in a corps anyways and we've only got 1 right now that anyone cares about

best case, Bate is a factor and plays like the guy who got his contract adjusted
worst case, he's a quality depth guy to help you cover for injuries so that they don't instantly derail your season

he's also useful in that he's pretty role-flexible within a WR corps - can be your Z, can run routes out of the slot (especially in the redzone), can be your sacrificial "x" if you need that (albeit i wouldnt expect him to be a significant producer as an x receiver)

if you're not getting a guaranteed day 2 pick for him, there's no point even considering the offer, and given the financial implications of trading him away, even that may not be enough
