only reason people are catastrophising is because they weren't told what the actual injury was
if they'd set out this timeline of rehab/recovery and wait for surgery option from the outset, no one would be thinking his career is over

It's been 7 months of rehab already. I just threw out a similar timeline for recovery from surgery. ACLs are like almost a year. You'd think neck surgeries are just as bad if not worse. Six or seven months didn't seem crazy to me, but again, I'm guessing entirely.

Who really knows. If the diagnosis I was told was correct, it could be anything from arthroscopic to a major intensive operation. Doesn't behoove any of us to guess.

This is right. They were highly sus about it. If they acted normally, there wouldn't be any reason to think atypically. I dont think Minter needs to tell every little detail but I hope he's at least a little different than Harbaugh who was just the worst.

It wouldn't matter if a report or doctor denied it. If a doctor did a press conference today and said "he will never play football again", he still collects his $22M. His injury status has nothing to do with the $ he's going to make this year.
His injury status only impacts his long-term earnings beyond '26.

I wish him the best. He's obviously going to try and be back if it is safe to do so. The only one who NEEDS to know is EDC.

But it's probably best to just act like he's done even if he's not from a teambuilding perspective.

And that's how they are approaching it. They'll take the bonus from Madubuike if they get it, but they still aren't counting on him to be back to the player he was even with the good news.

Only ways something happens this year is if they draft a guy and just say they don’t need him anymore, Bateman gives up something to facilitate a move, and/or they get a really good return that they don’t care about the money impact. That’s a lot to go right to make that happen.

I mean he's always shown flashes. They're just frustrated that they don't know what they're getting week to week, quarter to quarter, and even drive to drive. Doesn't make him a bad player but he just hasn't put the complete puzzle together yet and he's running out of time to do so.
 
I don't know where they get the idea that I'm being dramatic.

I don't care if he plays or not, I hope he does, but if he doesn't, I'm fine with that.

If he were to retire, I don't know if he'd earn those 22 million. He just needs to be on the roster; whether he plays or is in IR he gets paid anyway.
Given his injury, the most logical thing is that he wants to earn it without jeopardizing his health, like anyone else would.
I'm simply not getting my hopes up, at least until I see him with his training gear on at a practice field. In the meantime, he's someone we shouldn't count on.

And no drama.

I think they said early on, and repeatedly after, that any info on Mads injury would have to come directly from him. Seems they were respecting his privacy on the matter.
