The Running Game, The Passing Game and Dallas's Defence

Well he was coming off of an injury in that game, then he came back from covid, so there were reasons for a pitch count, and we still forced the carries at moments, it worries me what we might do if Ingram has no need for a pitch count. When gus and dobbins are getting the ball we ROLL, and Ingram is wasting snaps, there’s no need for 3 backs, you go with the hot hand in the run game and then you have your third down back, at most you rotate 2 primary backs to keep the change of pace, rotating Ingram even as a third back is just hurting the team

Ingram honestly should not even be active at this point. Tell me another DL with Campbell clearly not 100% wouldn't have been a better use of an active roster spot. I like Ingram and think he's a great guy, but it's time to swallow your pride and not dress him on game days to take only a few snaps and then cede time to clearly much better options.

i honestly think that potentially could have happened
but madubuike was scratched (im assuming covid hit him harder than some other guys) and washington was injured
i imagine that's why we saw jihad ward play a ton

Gotta think they'll be forced to carry at least 5 DL on the active roster against the Browns next week with Chubb to handle. Just can't see any good reason for Ingram to be active as of now. I will say that he at least showed some explosion that I haven't seen all season on one of those runs last night.

I was thinking throughout the game how well Lamar throws or appears to throw when he rolls left. The moment I saw him roll left I caught Hollywood making an adjustment and all of the sudden the touch that Lamar lacked for most of the game was there. His mechanics were there again.

That was some sweet shit to see. Lamar looked happy for the first time this year. Let's hope it's a sign of things to come with him.

Also......Why is Dobbins not RB1? Like HUH

yeah i dont think ingram's done but he's not a lead back right now - he's a change of pace back who's a solid pass protector and can run some routes out of the backfield with some savvy (he's pretty good at the texas route)

you could see lamar was pumped for hollywood too - he was the first one there to celebrate with him
Yup, felt long overdue, and it felt like it could have been the spark those 2 needed. As someone who has to deal with new shit and just wing it all the time at work, I can attest to the difference between getting something done the first and second time. getting it done the first time is nerve wracking and comes with lots of fuckups and trial by error, but after you get it done and have to do it a second time, it’s easy going and ya breeze right through it and it comes out even better than the first lol. I’m really hoping that can be the case for these two, because if we’re gonna make a run then no pair is more important than those 2, even more than Lamar and andrews because they’ve been solid together this year and we’ve struggled, getting Hollywood and Lamar’s connection going is the single biggest thing that could shoot this team back to SB contention

i want to see us get hollywood running comebacks and stuff like that that he excelled at in college and could rip of 20+ yard chunks easily because his change of speed is legit

much like lamar missing out on important offseason work, i think the lack of an offseason might have hurt hollywood too - i know they gave him a speedometer (or something) so that he could track his speed and make sure he didnt lose speed but he does seem slower and i wonder if even if his top-end speed is still there that maybe he's lost a bit of acceleration from the 23 lbs he put on over the offseason

If we want 2nd and 8 or 9 by all means play Ingram . otherwise start 2nd and 3-5 Dobbins.

Let's face it , Lamar needs reps and practice. His coaches in Florida adamantly have said he needs the work to play his best.

This is why I was worried about all the time off before the Titans and even before this Cowboys game.

I do think Lamar will get back to normal next year if he can get plenty of practice in.

hollywood is always playing around, cutting and jabbing even when hes got a lead on guys, like hes running himself into tackles in situations where he couldve just kept running and got a few more yards out of it, i think the biggest thing slowing him down is his soft ass nature, dude just doesnt have much dog in him and still plays like self preservation is taking over even though hes healthy and bulked up

i get that sure but idk - i wonder if he's still working out how fast he is in the NFL vs NFL talents - like he still doesnt seem confident in whether or not he can outrun a guy or not

I dnt think he plays soft. Just plays smart. Ty hilton and desean plays and played the same way. Even tyreke hill does it. I cut hollywood some slack only because neither our system
nor qb works in his favor.

its not smart to be the fastest and smallest player on the field, and play slow.

theres no justifying that. outrun these guys or fuck around and get hurt, if he keeps chopping up everytime the ball is in his hands hes gonna make one of his jukes right into a full steam blindside tackle and get his shit rocked big time. hilton, djax, and hill have always outrun guys, brown is refusing to, whether its fear/self preservation, trying too hard to make a play, or just not feeling the speed of the defense well enough, idk, but its not just him making business decisions like last year, some of it has been pretty egregious.

and ftr, i understand hes not turning every catch into a big gain by just running fast, and i know sometimes he does have to cut it up, im not talking like this is the only thing he does and he just catches and stops and falls, im just saying that we have seen quite a few times where he couldve gotten a bigger gain by just continuing to speed up but he instead opts to stop and cut back and gets tackled on the spot, and the "playing smart" thing doesnt even apply here because hes literally more vulnerable doing that than he is by just running, he cant see those guys pursuing full speed behind him but he can see everyone in front, when he stops like that all it takes is one defender hauling ass in pursuit and he'll get broke in half like Marty from Not Another Teen Movie

He also just goes down or slides anytime he sense he's going to get tackled. I understand he's not a big guy and so intentionally trying to run into people isn't a good idea, but I think he leaves yardage on the field most receptions because he simply goes down, almost like a QB would, anytime he feels he's close to being contacted.

It really hasn't had much impact to this point, but like if he gives up a few yards per game that way, it can cost us in the long run.

For people paying attention to the Oline, How did Ben powers look?

I dnt disagree with you but those guys mentioned, are actually getting targets. Their Oc’s and qbs arent making them run full speed just for them to lose their stamina or for decoys. Nor are sending them on routes into double cvg .We can replace hollywood with julio and all of sudden we will see flaws in julio game. We know hollywood got game thats for sure, but do we or can we expect any wr to actually look good in our system?
