The 2021 Offseason Thread

cain's been the surprise - he and jaylon moore have both been unexpected but idk that either of them have done enough to make the roster

i think what cain's shown though is that miles boykin is completely irrelevant to this team at this point - cain's a better receiver than miles in these practices with a style that's more like what you'd expect from a boykin body-type

i think we keep those top 6 wrs but im honestly not completely convinced we dont go with 5 although that would be harsh on proche (who i think deserves to make it) - if we do carry 6 which i think we do because of the injury issues within that unit, i think wallace is riding the inactives unless he's a special teams contributor

Agree here as well. We will need 6 for when Watkins has his annual injury problem and/or Hollywood’s hamstring continues acting up

I’m ok with that. Anything like the Mahomes contract though would be ridiculous.
You are wrong yet again my young friend. If he takes a Mahomes like deal we are lucky. You just don't quite realize the golden goose we are vilifying here. If Mahomes is a great generational talent, Lamar is an otherworldly never seen before type talent. Now, that he has a few weapons and still nowhere near the weapons guys like Mahomes, Watson and Allen have had, you'll find out just how good he really is and how wrong your analysis about him is.

Lol I love Lamar but ain’t no way in hell he’s a better QB than Mahomes

now signing bonus and option bonus can only be spread out out over a 5 year period. For example if he has 100m sining bonus can be spread out from 2021-25. However if he has another option bonus in year 2 (2022), than that can be spread out from 2022-26. This is why I think 6 yrs is the best way to reduce the cap hit. I don't think he gets longer than that.

I salivate at the thought of Lamar being surrounded by Pat’s weapons in a Reid ran offensive system. My god

Currently my top 7 WRs are the following, although I only see us keeping 6:

Hollywood
Watkins
Bateman
Duvernay
Proche
Wallace
Cain

Thoughts?
I'd do the following:
Hollywood, Watkins, Bateman, Proche, Duvernay, (Moore or Cain). Wallace to IR

if im keeping 6, im keeping wallace on the 53
if i i/r wallace then it's because either 1) he's actually injured or 2) we're only carrying 5 WRs

Agree. I prefer to keep 5 WRs. Thats why I put those two in brackets, 5 WRs offers more flexibility. Is it still possible to reactive as many players as you want or did it revert back to 2.

Totally disagree. Is he not only better than Mahomes, but he is already a better football player than him and in a year or two will be better in every aspect of quarterbacking than Mahomes can dream to be. I guarantee it and ordain it. I truly believe it in my heart. You are again comparing the 1986 Isaiah Thomas to Michael Jordan of 1986. Millions of NBA fans said exactly what you're saying right now my dear. Millions were smitten by Isaiah and his NBA championship cred and MJ had a losing playoff record and lost several times to the Pistons led by Isaiah. The similarities are uncanny. You'll come around and then admit to me how wrong you were and how prescient I was.

Such a good Dad ;):D

i think it's as many as you want like last year but they have to be on the initial 53 to be eligible for reactivation

yes, you can reactivate as many as you want. However if you want him to be called back he has to make the final 53 first.

You really believe that given Lamar's work ethic and constant desire to improve every aspect of his game, he won't be one of the better pocket passers in 5 yrs? He already is one of the better ones if you discount all the naysayers and doubters regurgitating the same old tired shit on repeat. He can't throw outside the numbers! He doesn't have a threat outside the numbers that can go up and make contested catches till now! Or Lamar will lose his athleticism not to be a dual threat?

Randall Cunningham was a dangerous dual threat QB played for 16 yrs in this league and he wasn't anywhere as talented or athletic as Lamar Jackson. I think you are all underestimating the staying power of Lamar's style of play. In fact, I'll go this far as saying you're severely underestimating it.

I am praying EDC sees this situation like I see it and Bisciotti agrees with him. Let's take this gift we lucked into and make the most of it. I'm praying he signs at least an 8 yr deal.

my god!

like i know stanley's out and phillips is probably more of a guard than a tackle and the whole offence in general is a bit of a shambles

but triple teaming a rookie in his first training camp is outrageous lol

im trying to hold myself back on how hyped this camp is making me but ive been on this train since his 2nd presser as a raven - i really hope we get to see an ok number of reps of him next saturday in the 1st preseason game because im starving to see some of these guys (and especially him)

I hope this Oweh hype is warranted. I’ll be paying close attention to the trio of Rousseau, Oweh, and Joe Tryon.

Joe Tryon was my draft crush.. and was super bummed when he passed on him. Then the bucs scooped him up hella fast.. didn’t even care to use all their time on the clock. Supposedly he’s killing it in TC just like Oweh. I do like Oweh’s demeanor though. All business.

Tryon is just as raw as Oweh with a bit less explosiveness and run defense. He is an especially piss poor tackler. Lower ceiling. This is according to several scouting websites on the internet

@rossihunter2 can you verify that? I don’t know way too much about him other than what I looked up

I was never sold on Tryon the way others were but didn’t have any issues with him as a prospect - just didn’t get the hype

I think my feelings on Rousseau are well documented all over this forum lol

out of those 3 guys, oweh was highest on my board by miles - I had him stacked at the same grade as Payton turner who got taken the pick after Bateman

Was a weird edge class which I thought didn’t have a ton of depth at the top but had 4 guys taken in 5 picks to finish the 1st round

Ravens were heavily linked to both Oweh and tryon. At the time of the draft I think I preferred tryon by a hair, but tbh I wasn’t super high on either.
