The 2021 Offseason Thread

it's interesting reading them back - in past years ive not kept my notes - only my big board spreadsheet...

i feel pretty good about that oweh one so far...

ill see if i can find my daelin hayes notes too:

HAYES: (4th round - 149):
- 6’3 261
- Bendy with burst, power and lateral quickness but not overly speedy
- Explosion is inconsistent – some reps show off great explosion but not often
- Shows flexibility and savvy to knife through gaps and create penetration in the run game
- Seems to lose the ball carrier after penetrating though
- Strong at the point of attack and has pop in his hands when he stacks and sheds violently at times (sometimes can get locked in and driven off the line)
- Disciplined when left unblocked and good lateral movement when squeezing
- Some snaps dropping into coverage and was given some time at LB for 1v1s in coverage at the senior bowl
- Has rushed from multiple spots all across the line
- Shows real power in his hands with some of his strikes
- Decent get-off
- Savvy pass rusher – will attack what the offensive lineman opens and will adjust mid-rush/counter well – uses speed-to-power to punish tackles who over-react to his threat outside and lose leverage or he’ll cross face to get inside – bends well when turning the corner and combines the bend with good hand usage
- Had a really good senior bowl showing off power, hands and quickness at different points
- Not a spectacular athlete which might limit his potential ceiling – but has enough traits to be intriguing
- Coming off a torn labrum

Thanks! So what I’m seeing here is he’s a good solid overall player, the biggest knock was/is speed and some slight inconsistencies. Wasn’t that sort of Judon as well?

idk if that's what judon was in college but that's what judon was in the NFL albeit judon got faster and quicker in the NFL and was able to mitigate the lack of elite quicks with good snap timing and being really good dropping which created natural misdirection for him

i dont think they're the same player at all but the path to success for hayes lives down a very similar road to the one judon took

Considering he’s coming off a brutal ankle injury, it’s a bit concerning lol

he's got 5 weeks until week 1 - the fact that he's been cleared to practice in any capacity at this point is a massive positive

we just have to remember that he almost certainly won't be playing at an all-pro level in week 1

Oh man let me tell ya… the guy is an instant impact playmaker. Think Rodgers mixed with a bit of Mahomes. Top 3 fantasy QB for sure this year
I like the niners to make some noise this year but i wouldnt ever put faith in a rookie qb to win the sb..

Unless Jimmy G. gets hurt or the team massively underperforms then I don't think we'll see much of him this season. This is basically a redshirt year for Lance and I think he'll take over the reigns next season once Jimmy gets traded.

Sounds a lot like 2018 Joe flacco.

this is jimmy garappolo(sp?), he’s backup caliber.

1. f you. I won’t fall for your pre-fantasy-draft Jedi mind games.

2. I was hoping Joe Douglas didn’t fall to the pressure of drafting Zach Wilson #2 overall. Thought he was the 4th best behind Fields and Lance. We shall see

apparently a massive day for ardarius washington - kinda been waiting for one of these type days since camp started - preseason's gonna be massive for him but with an ageing anthony levine and only 2 locked in starters at safety, there's a massive opportunity through this preseason for him to earn a roster spot

I am always rooting for an underdog, love to see him earn his way onto the 53. Just because I doubt it’ll happen doesn’t mean I’m not rooting for the kid

Young Padawan, you have much to learn. Draft Lance in the first three rounds, you will

Lamar Jackson said he's talking to team doctors and "learning" about the COVID-19 vaccine.
Jackson resumed practice Sunday after missing the team's first two weeks of training camp after testing positive for the virus in late July. "I just got off the COVID list," said Jackson, who missed a 2020 regular season game with COVID. "I got to talk to my team doctors and try to see how they feel about it, keep learning as much as I can about it, and we'll go from there." Jackson has mostly dodged questions about getting vaccinated against the virus, calling it a personal health issue. His vaccination status could make him a riskier fantasy pick over QBs who have gotten the jab. The Ravens offense could be left with Trace McSorley or Tyler Huntley under center this season if Jackson remains unvaccinated, tests positive, and misses at least ten days.

I read this and I have two reactions:
1. It's great to see that you're actually willing to think about possibly getting a vaccine at this point.
2. What in the ever-loving fuck have you been doing for the last like 4-5 months? The time to discuss with your doctors and "acquire information" about the vaccine was like May bruh, not August. By August, you should have made up your mind and have all the info you need.

Like this, to me, reads like his sources of info on the pros and cons of vaccination is coming from like the Barber Shop or something, and he's yet to actually talk to, you know, medical people who have real actual knowledge about this stuff.

I guess we should be happy that August isn't too late. If he said this shit in like October, it would be one of the all-time dumbest things I'd ever read.

Amid all the covid-vaccination questions Lamar had to answer today, one thing that caught my attention was when a reporter asked Lamar what does his backyard throwing session look like when he’s at home quarantining. Lamar mentioned a lot of footwork stuff and things he learned from “Adam and Tom House.” Then followed that with he worked with Adam in between the involuntary camp and training camp.

Adam Dedeaux And Tom House runs 3DQB, and help with the throwing mechanics / motions with people like Tom Brady and Drew Brees. I love it.

i think the safety position is wide enough open that if he offers enough in coverage on special teams that there's a space for him on this roster and potentially a chance to earn snaps later in the year too - certainly now with jimmy down for a couple of weeks and no obvious 3rd safety (other than levine) i think there's a chance for either washington or stephens to grab those opportunities and make a case for defensive snaps in dime packages
