The 2021 Offseason Thread

Was just about to comment on this. How are we supposed to figure out our OLine if they are actually all hurt? Apparently AV left practice early yesterday as well, but seems to be practicing today. We are down to a potentially knicked up single starting OLineman. This along with data from prior seasons gives me little reason to believe we'll get a healthy season out if these guys and will need to rely on depth. But our depth is bad. It's actually already so obvious that this is the only position group capable of stopping us from winning a superbowl. That group in particular has been destroyed the last 3 years in the playoffs and has had huge impacts on all those losses.

Call me crazy but I'm considering the idea of doing some restructures and making a trade for a guy that we think brings us over the top. I really believe we are that close, but definitely on the outside looking in if things don't dramatically improve and remain positive health wise on the entire OL.
Well going into training camp I thought it would be the pass rush keeping us away from a Super Bowl. Now I agree with you, its the offensive line that
could easily keep us away from that Super Bowl.

I've been harping on Oline depth for years, and it frequently goes overlooked. I understand that it's difficult to achieve to begin with, but I don't think the FO did nearly as much with the Oline as they should have this year.

That being said, there's a couple things to consider...
1. Trades are hard to pull off, mostly because it requires two sides. I don't really know of any teams interested in trading away quality Olineman in August. In October, if their team isn't winning, then maybe. Consider that, even with our current personnel and depth, this is, at least, an average Oline in this league. That tells you something about where other teams are with Olineman. So I'm just not sure what the market would be like for acquiring anything other than average players.
2. I would point out that the Ravens have drafted six Olineman in the last four drafts (7 counting OBJ), four in the first four rounds, and another is Bozeman, a quality starter. I think it's high time those guys step up and produce. The free agent market usually isn't a great place to find Oline talent.

I don't think we have terrible interior OL depth. We've drafted that hard and have a ton of options there.

The T depth is putrid though. We haven't done well addressing that at all.

Because every backup tackle we have is an interior guy who swings, and we haven’t drafted a legit tackle since 2018

Bateman might be done for the year

we'll have to see what it is - but non-contact groin injury is not good

best case is he's just reaggravated whatever has been bugging him and the ravens just need to shut him down until week 1
worst case is he's got an actual sprain/partial tear etc. and we're looking at a grade 3 that keeps him out for most of the season (if not the whole year)

He had to be helped to the sideline and decosta walked into the facility with him. Sounds serious, people who were there said he appeared to be in a lot of pain and really upset

SOB are we seriously cursed at WR? I’m now convinced if we had brought in a guy like Hopkins he would’ve had a season ending injury in training camp last year

Boykin should be shouting praises to God. Only way he gets a chance in the NFL. Dude sucks but who else we got outside?

Spencer reported yesterday that duvernay has been running a lot of outside stuff from day one and his release has completely changed from last year. Duvernay and Watkins can split the workload I guess

May not be apples to apples, but we have won 26 games the last two years with pretty much the same core of pass catchers out there today, except no Bateman or Watkins.

It hurts, but its not a death sentence.

hollywood plays outside, watkins plays outside, duvernay plays outside, tylan wallace plays outside...

we're not keeping boykin just because he's an "outside" guy

+ remember that if it is bad enough that we need to worry about bateman then he'll still need to be on the initial 53 before we i/r him if we want him to return

im not in doomsday mode yet about bateman though - will wait for the update

Watkins? LOL. Over/under 8 games before he’s hurt too?
