The 2021 Offseason Thread

Looks to me like it's bredeson and not colon who's taking the 2nd team reps at C - looks like when cleveland was practicing it was with the 2s

That's gotta be good for his stock. I think there were a bunch of saying a few weeks ago that there might not be a spot for him. Seems like maybe his stock is up and Powers' is down.

that was largely because he just hadn’t been practicing and hardly got a look in last year but that’s all changing now - I know they gave him C snaps last year in training camp but this year it legit seems like they’re turning him into a 3 spot guy which bodes well for him

not sure powers stock could have taken a bigger tumble than it did from this first preseason game

I'm still shocked the league let Bateman and Oweh fall to us. They will regret both but that Oweh one will be a killer.

For real. They’re gonna be like “damn the ravens really outsmarted all of us” when Oweh ends up in the top 20 on the players list and shit

Even as someone pushing for Oweh before the draft, I can't blame teams for passing on Oweh. Taking physical specimens with low experience has backfired a lot in the past. You really have to do your homework on how coachable they are, and if their physical ability really translates to how an NFL caliber player plays. Even then, still a gamble.

Bateman though, there is no excuse. He should have gone higher.

The power of the #SIIE wasn't going to let that happen.

The thing is Oweh seems very coachable and the fact he improved his run defense in 1 season. I dont care who you are but in this league you take shot on athletic edges regardless of sack numbers. Clowney went first despite his numbers and it was claimed his effort was shaky at times. For one, I think had there been a true combine he goes higher. Same with Rashod.

As for Bateman, think he will be great for us. What will hold him back numbers wise is our offense.

If we do, I can't imagine it'll be for a starting-caliber lineman. Could be a reserve or somebody to compete. Tackle would seem to be more likely than anything else.

We dont even need starting caliber, we just need guys who look like they belong in the NFL. Our two good linemen are banged up. Bozeman and Villanueva are borderline backup material and everyone else sucks.

Well I certainly don't think Bozeman is backup material. He's definitely a quality starter as a Guard (proved that the last several years) and we're still seeing how he shakes out at Center.
I'm mostly just pointing out that the "guys who look like they belong in the NFL" are not getting traded. Why would another team want to get rid of those kinds of players, when they're so hard to find?

Again short of a Bozeman injury, I don't have concerns with the interior. I think we'd be fine starting Phillips, Bozeman and Powers on the interior if we had to, and I think that's like a worst case scenario. My concern is at Tackle.

Like by opening night, we're going to have a well above average starting Oline in this league, and I don't think it's close either.

Am I the only one who didn't even know we had a lengthy preseason win streak?
As soon as I heard it last time, after I finished my eyeroll, I sincerely was like "I wonder if more than 10 people know this"
I'm pretty sure you were the only one. Even my dad knew it and he's a skins fan.

I know it's just preseason, but winning 18 games in a row is pretty nice. They can tie the record vs the Panthers this weekend.

Our tackle situation is really bad, Smith and Phillips are AWFUL.

Yea I’m thinking the only way we pull off a trade would be a tanking team planning for a rebuild 4-6 weeks in the season. The Texans definitely come to mind. Watson uncertainly and the departure of so many tenured vets … not to mention they need additional draft capital
