Week 15 Discussion (Other Teams)

Hall of Famer
The Playoff Race heats up as we now inch toward the final 3 weeks of the regular season. With so much on the line and so much to still be decided, we should have a very exciting end to the 2017 Regular season.

Broncos @ Colts: Thursday opens up with a snoozer that will impact the final draft order. The Broncos beat up on the Jets last week and look to do the same this week to the Colts. I would imagine Jim Irsay is trying to hire Green Bay's doctors for next season to ensure Luck can return as quickly as Aaron Rodgers.

Bears @ Lions(4:30PM SAT): Bonus Saturday Football! The Bears who got a win over the Bengals, head to Detroit to play spoiler to the Lions' playoff chances in the final weeks.

Chargers @ Chiefs(8:25PM SAT): Saturday Night sees the battle for the AFC West as the Chiefs look to hold back the surging Chargers and prevent a full 2016 Vikings downfall. The early season Chiefs showed up last week against Oakland, and Philip Rivers looks to redeem himself after throwing 3 INTs in the first match up back in September.

Packers @ Panthers: Guess who's back, back again, Rodgers back, tell a friend. You almost think this has story book ending written all over it. Rodgers gets hurt, returns and takes the Pack back to the playoffs. Then to the Super Bowl... in Minnesota. Carolina looks to derail the Rodgers' hype train this Sunday after a huge victory over the Vikings last Sunday. Can Rodgers lead the Pack to a wild card berth?

Dolphins @ Bills: The Bills somehow managed to find the football enough to score more than the Colts in the Buffalo Blizzard. Luckily for the Dolphins, who just upset the Pats on Monday Night there is only light snow showers in the forecast. Miami has firmly kept themselves in the playoff hunt and could get a leg up on Buffalo if they win this one.

Bengals @ Vikings: Marvin Lewis and Mike Zimmer meet again as the Vikings look to rebound after the loss to the Panthers. The Bengals are trying to salvage what's left of their season in what could be Marvin Lewis' actual final season. The Vikings need to tread lightly as they could lose a bye week in the final weeks. A Vikings loss would clinch home field advantage for the Eagles pending a Eagles victory.

Jets @ Saints: The Saints get a easy break this week as Josh McCown is out for the Jets, and their playoff chances look better. Can the over achieving Jets pull off the upset opening up the door of the NFC South to Carolina and Atlanta?

Eagles @ Giants: Are the Eagles going to become the 2016 Raiders after losing Carson Wentz to a torn ACL? Nick Foles played good enough to keep the Eagles in front and hold off the Rams. Now he has a chance to clinch home field advantage for the Eagles if the Vikings lose.

Cardinals @ Redskins: This doesn't have playoff implications but the Cardinals have been playing well enough to stun the Titans and Jaguars in the midst of their AFC South battle. Will Kirk Cousins impress Bruce Arians enough to throw enough money at him in the off-season or will Blaine Gabbert continue to make the Cardinals think he is the answer.

Texans @ Jaguars: Everyone says Pittsburgh and New England are locked in as the top 2 seeds, but the Jaguars look to take one of those byes if either team slips. Jags have it easy this week with the Texans as an impending battle with the Titans for the AFC South crown looms in Week 17. Jags clinch a playoff spot with a win.

Rams @ Seahawks: The Seahawks won the first match up and look for the season sweep of the Rams. The Rams can clinch a playoff spot with a win, Lions loss, Packers loss, Saints loss and Falcons loss. A win here by the Rams would make them one step closer to winning the NFC West.

Patriots @ Steelers: The Media Hype Bowl! Which one of these teams will come out with the number one seed? The Steelers clinched the AFC North last week and look to clinch a first round bye and home field advantage. A Jaguars loss to the Texans will give the Steelers home field. By the way.... Pats can clinch a playoff spot via us losing.

Titans @ 49ers: Marcus Mariota is dealing with a hamstring injury and still having problems with the ankle injury he suffered last year. This will limit his mobility and may make it easier for the 49ers defense to contain him. Jimmy G looks to be the real deal and could upset the Titans this week as they are trying to hold off the Jaguars for the AFC South.

Cowboys @ Raiders: Sunday Night Football heads to Oakland where the Cowboys will look to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Raiders aren't out of the AFC West picture yet but certainly the three way battle will be one to watch in the closing weeks. Dallas looks to overtake in the NFC wild card battle and once again get back to the playoffs.

Falcons @ Buccaneers: The Falcons head to Tampa on Monday Night to keep their NFC South hopes alive. Jon Gruden is going into the Bucs Ring of Honor this Monday, and just maybe this reunion is just more than a Ring of Honor ceremony.

for week 15 there really isnt much juice to this schedule:

steelers pats is obviously the big one that likely decides the 1 seed in the AFC and given the way the ravens marched down the field against pittsburgh's defence its hard to see a pats team (who will be pissed off at their showing on MNF) not taking advantage and using their diverse group of rbs to absolutely rinse the steelers' shazier-less lb corps - then again the pats defence this week looked like it was the september pats defence which could lead to a big day for Brown - it could also be that this game helps decide the league MVP - if the steelers win then Antonio Brown has to be in the conversation for MVP he's doing things that no receiver since jerry rice in 1987 is doing (and maybe even rice wasnt on this level of value to his team)

cowboys raiders is interesting only because under the radar the cowboys could do what a lot of people are half expecting the packers to do and they get zeke back next week (i think) and given their schedule i could see them running the table and sneaking in given the hard schedules the seahawks and falcons both have

titans 49ers is an interesting game - mainly because the titans could easily start freefalling if the niners get a win here - also interesting because jimmy g has to be one of the most intriguing and watchable qbs in the league despite having an incredibly meh receiver corps - 49ers are always one of the first teams i go back and watch in the week because of jimmy g - they could do the ravens a real favour here if they could put an ailing titans team to the sword (and with the rams and jags still to come a loss vs the 49ers would put the ravens - and even the bills - in the drivers seat for the 5th seed) - important to track marcus mariota's injury this week too

dolphins bills might be the most important game of the week for the ravens to keep an eye on yet it might be one of the lowest octane matchups of the week - a dolphins win and a ravens win at either the bengals or colts seals the head to head tiebreaker for the ravens - miami has 2 chances to do the ravens a favour in the next 3 weeks (and keep their own faint playoff hopes alive - which seems crazy given that in DVOA metrics they have been for most of the season one of the 3 worst teams in the league)

rams seahawks is a big game but ultimately means a lot more to the seahawks than it does the rams - rams have a chance to continue their march towards a bye and maybe even the 1 seed now that carson wentz is injured (it will be interesting to see what the nick foles led eagles offence looks like, albeit against the giants) and the rams have to be heavily favoured over a slowly imploding seahawks team that even if they scrape into the playoffs (or a winning record) look set to have a tumultuous offseason... again

Colts lead 7-0 in the battle of who wants the higher draft pick.

and this is part of the problem with a lack of patience in head coaches because sometimes these games are the bane of an organisation because the head coach is fighting for their job but the gm is fighting for their draft pick - it leads to games like this where 2 teams come together and the message to the players and fans and the league itself is unclear...

leads to awful mistake-ridden football and despair within a franchise

I know, honestly of all the early games before Sunday the only one that means anything is Chargers/Chiefs. That is going to determine who wins the AFC West and will change the AFC Wild Card picture.

Broncos in the lead 22-13 as we head into the final quarter. So it looks like the Colts are going to firmly be in hold of the number 3 pick after this week, draft order seems to be coming together here. Browns picking first, Giants most likely holding firm at the number two spot and the Colts at 3. With everything else to be determined.
