The Second Half, The First Half and Yet More Overtime

Also a note... Boykin obviously didn't show up in the stat book and didn't get a ton of offensive snaps, but he was used very differently today. Not a pure TE by any stretch but played a lot closer to the ball as a blocker. Seems like the outside WR experiment is over with him. Using him as a big slot/pseudo TE.

also pretty sure he was one of the 2 guys who should have stopped that kickoff return around the 20 yard line and instead let it go to the house (think board was the other guy who missed)

oh i missed that - they never showed that part of the route on the replays - we only ever saw ham run off the screen and then he was open - and on the replays they only showed the catchpoint

but yeah ive just watched and it looks like his arm is hanging limp even at the catch

Yeah they didn't show anything in the stadium either. Just happened to be looking at that part of the field during the play and noticed him get injured almost immediately. Serious props to him for continuing to play through it. Wasn't a missed assignment or anything. Just Elliott covering him and trying to get his hands on him at the beginning of the route.

Fucking Preston gave Lamar a C- grade . I know he played poorly in the 1st half but that was a little harsh .

probably a little harsh but that first half was rough

but preston seemed to have a weird hard-on about low fan attendance despite the stadium being a full-house and the crowd forcing at least 1 delay of game...

but also i dont get why he covers the ravens because he clearly doesnt enjoy watching them or covering them lol - and has the weirdest agendas and hot takes ever

the broadcast basically cuts off just before that part of the route so glad you caught it live
also glad that he didnt get the injury chasing down the dead play because it wasnt blown - i would have been so mad if that was the case

Wow. How do you tear a pec and bicep in coverage? bizarre

Hard to believe all of the serious injuries piling up.

Tackling much better in the second half.
Did not run the ball with backs as much as I would have liked in the first half despite having success. runs (5 in total in the first half) of 5 yds. , 4 yds, 4 yds, 9 yds, 3 yds,

Madubuike had some big time line play...a clam here and there but some very impactful moments of domination

I wonder why Lamar always swap “clean” / extra jersey during swaps. Is it because their jerseys are specially tailored for those hand warmers? Thought the whole point was to get a game-worn jersey.

Also want to give a shoutout to Devonta Freeman. I doubted him from day 1 and said he had nothing left in the tank but he's proven me wrong. Not perfect but he's been the only "big play" threat we've had at RB. Might not have the speed anymore but is still plenty shifty enough for the rotation.

no idea but it just makes me think of that 2019 rams game where like all the spare jerseys had to come out because half the Rams team wanted his jersey lol

Williams had a couple carries, but Bell was much better.
Bell is working well with power runs between the tackles, that’s what I’ve wanted to see him do from the start but we’ve run a lot of power sweep and stretch with him, the run game was solid call and design.

i mean, he’s gotta be the front runner for MVP at this rate.

i cannot think of someone who's done more for their team

and it certainly helps that some of the other guys have faltered for periods - herbert had 2 or 3 poor games, mahomes looks a little lost this year, rodgers has been hit or miss, allen's had some terrible games

it's really just him and kyler but kyler's faced basically no adversity and you saw that colt mccoy just scored 31 points on the 49ers defence with that same group and offence even without hopkins too...

maybe brady in the discussion as well - but a bit like kyler, he's in an armchair

not gonna break many but he's starting to get the timing and rhythm of the power run game we're running and letting guys get on blocks and using his angles to set up blocks well

he gives the OL time to get some extra push but the OL do need to actually get on their blocks to make it work

it was big having him be able to take over for Freeman on that 4th quarter drive and just run power down their throats
