I feel like Phillips is trending to that "what could have been" type of guy. He has so many traits that would indicate he could be a high quality G but (1) he hasn't been able to stay healthy and (2) every time he is healthy, he's needed at T. His opportunity is not over by any stretch but he's got to take that job and run with it the next opportunity he gets. Not completely his fault either. Just unfortunate circumstances all around.
i know -
year 1 he was a bit dodgy at RG but he won that starting spot for a reason and then the injury forces him out and then the stanley injury forces him to RT and it's the same story this year...
year 2 he won the LG spot and clearly looked like the best guy (and played pretty ok in that first game before the injury) and then he got injured and then the mekari injury forces him to RT...
definitely a 'what could have been' type deal - the question will be what happens if/when mekari comes back if powers still struggles - i think it's clear that they think he's the best backup T left and might be hesitant to play him at G just in case but he also adds more value being on the field than not (in my opinion) - gonna be hard not to put him at guard if we can find someone to go in at RT (be that mekari or anyone else although not sure who that anyone else would be lol)
