I highly doubt they would’ve taken Bateman if he was there and ARob was on the roster. We probably would've traded down
 
So, I just read that Bruce Irwin has signed with the Bears. I don't know if he'll play against the Ravens but weren't his knees shot or something? Or is he still a threat?

There is absolutely nothing to suggest that. We signed Watkins and drafted Bateman, not sure what makes arob any different other than cost which makes Bateman even more desirable because arob would’ve been a strong cut candidate in the near future for cap reasons.

if there was a better player available then maybe, but I don’t see any players at that point that would’ve been anywhere close to Bateman on the ravens board, maybe creed Humphrey? Maybe they take oweh first and go a whole different direction? Shit maybe they go oweh+tryon which is a fun thought, but knowing what Bateman put on film and them taking Bateman where they did tells me he was probably by far the highest rated player on their board. I don’t think they expected him to be available at that point, and the ravens don’t pass on those guys.

I get the sense that oweh and Rousseau were both higher on the board than Bateman just from the way they talked about it post-draft but I get your point for sure

feels like darrisaw was someone they would have jumped all over

Bateman probably BPA otherwise but hard to invest all those resources into WR in one year with limited resources elsewhere

bateman for me was BPA by a country mile at that point too - but I wonder if that’s why we weren’t really in on any of the “big” WRs - like I don’t believe we ever really had an offer for golladay and all the other WRs we bid on were 1 year sub-10m offers

It’s all moot because I don’t think they would have been in on ARob anyway but reading between the lines it sounds like oweh and Rousseau were the top guys on the board when we took Bateman but they took a risk hoping one of those 2 would make it to 31 knowing Bateman probably wouldn’t make it there

yes, I don't believe Bateman would have made it past Green Bay, who drafted right after us. Once we drafted him they went another route.

He didn't look physically right during the game in Miami. You could see it in his face.In hindsight, whatever's wrong may have been going on then.
 
Ive seen a lot of speculation that he may have caught something during his visit to Louisville. Apparently there was a flu going around there. If he's got what I have right now, he can play. He'll feel like shit but should be able to go.

He is going to be on a MJ special for Chicago. Remember the flu game? This is Lamar's flu game. He'll be superman throwing for 300+ and running for 100+ with 4 total TDs. He'll get ivy on the sideline and keep going. Then he'll collapse into Harbaugh's arms and lay there. I foresee this like it has already happened. Do not worry.

I think we pick Bateman regardless of who falls. They had their eyes set on either Rousseau or Oweh for the #31 pick and don't believe were going to pass up on Bateman if he was available at 27
 



Let's hope this NFC North game doesn't come down to a Tucker Field Goal. It would be funny to continue Tucker's trolling of the NFC North but if we can have this be more like the Chargers game I'll be happy.

I wouldn't be as worried about Brown being out as we still have Bateman, Watkins and Andrews. Plus Boyle being back will hopefully allow us to do some more two tight end sets to offset Brown being out.
