2022 Forum Mock: Discussion Thread

Great pick in Allen. I've only discovered him recently and he looks like he could potentially develop into a starter someday.
Thanks. Feels like we’d be talking about him a lot more had he not gotten hurt. Only played 10 snaps last year but damn did he make an impact in those 10 snaps lol. Happy to take the injury risk on at this point.

If he played this season, and to anywhere close of what he looked like in those 10 snaps, we'd likely be talking about a Day 2 pick. I think he could still easily go in the 4th or 5th.

not even really heard of him before now
saw the bama uni in the pic you put in and was like... "eh?" how have i not heard of a bama EDGE guy in this draft class lol - just added him to my seemingly ever growing list of guys still to watch and grade

Hasn’t had a ton of playing time so really banking on the flashes and continued development. Definitely some stuff to like in the limited cut ups I’ve been able to find (including all 10 of his 2021 snaps lol)

we're in the 6th round tbf - if we're all doing this right then we should start to see our boards evaporate around now lol
I’ve got so little left on there lol. I’m sure I’ll still find a UDFA gem or two but at this point it’s nearly all guessing for me based on random Twitter comments and such.

Anyone looking for a starting OLB, I'm still shopping Malik Reed, who's started in Denver for the last 3 years. 25, minimum contract. Looking for a pick or two in return.

im getting deeper and deeper into the class as we get to the class and filling out those other position groups and so im still finding guys that i look in hindsight and think i should have taken them earlier - it's nice to have guys in the 6th round that you actually want to take lol

that said - im way behind where i was last year with the prospects - starting to feel like i might not be able to get the board to where i want it to be before the draft but im not giving up yet lol

Anyone specific, of the ones already selected, whom you feel went later in retrospect that you'd expect?

uwazurike
goedeke

those are 2 names that come to mind pretty easily
it's more some position groups (as you'd expect given our ravens-centric focus here) have gone a little undervalued i think - and there's some guys still available that i think should probably be long gone (trying to be as vague as possible here on purpose lol)

also some guys getting drafted as high as the 4th round who i think may well not get drafted at all (or at least i wouldnt draft them) - obviously everyone's board is different

I've seen none of Uwazurike but wish I had based on what I've heard. I had Goedeke on my board for a while. I don't see him as a viable RT in the pros. He lost too many reps on that last third of the arc, but I think he could easily be a starting guard.

Agreed in a lot of ways with this. I'm not necessarily close to out of draftable players - I'm just running low on draftable players that I've actually watched. I don't go nearly as in depth as you do but will just playing catch up to some extent as I approach being on the clock. Would venture to guess there are still several out there and some I might still rate as highly as early day 3. Hell, I've had oddly good luck at finding guys drafted on day 2 in UDFA. Always bound to be someone that slips through the cracks.

i think he will be a guard but i think he might be a center - i really like him - i think he's way ahead of raimann but raimann's more athletically suited to tackle whereas goedeke's more of a fit inside i think... i wouldnt be shocked to hear a team considering him at RT though - but i agree with you that he can struggle with a soft edge at the top of that type of speed rush

uwazurike's fun - so long and powerful and they aligned him everywhere which i think hurt him - played too many reps out on the edge and asked to rush against tackles when he should have been in the a or b gap

especially with small school guys or guys who didnt play much football in 2021 (see christopher allen)

easy for us to miss those types of guys because we dont know they exist until after the draft sometimes

I feel like Brandon Stephens last year would have been the type of guy to not even be signed in UDFA. Literally none of us had ever heard of the dude when he was picked.

100% - what's surprising about stephens is that he was playing at SMU so it wasnt like we should have not known about him

he's not zach seiler out of ferris state who lance zierlein said was on his "ghost list" when we drafted him in the 7th round in 2018 (guys he'd heard existed but hadnt been able to see or find any tape on)

i think ive managed to find 1 guy who might be a kind of ghost type who maybe ill try and pick up at some point - but these guys are really hard to come across lol especially if they're seniors (which most are) because then they dont even have to declare which would put them on the list the NFL releases every year

And even further... the smallest draft class we've seen thanks to Covid. Amazing how no one knew him and probably even a couple of other guys that went round 3/4. What a wild draft.

that CB that the cowboys took just before we took stephens and other teams taking guys i thought of as mid-to-late day 3 types in round 3 too

i really didnt understand all that stuff though because there were still good prospects on the board...

once we got into the 3rd round comp picks it's like some of the teams started going insane
