On Monday with the 31st pick in the Team Selection draft I selected the Green Bay Packers. As GM of the Packers I had the arduous task of fixing a roster that was 53m over the cap before franchising Davante Adams. Add the franchise tag to Adams and it become 72m over the cap. My goal was to keep Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers together, unless I received an extremely good offer, while also multiple players with the ultimate goal to get under the cap, while building my draft arsenal.
Five days later and I’m no longer in cap hell, although not enough to be a major player in free agency, that was never my goal. The Green Bay Packers tagged Davante Adams, traded David Bakhtieri, Preston Smith, Zadarius Smith, Adrian Amos, Dean Lowry Billy Turner, and lets not forget the major trade of Kurt Benkert. Even while trading players away I was able to acquire Andre Dillard from the Eagles and young FS Julian Blackmon as part of the Adrian Amos trade.
The Green Bay Packers still have a nice core in place, including Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Jaire Alexander, Rashan Gary, Elgton Jenkins and Kenny Clark. The 14 picks that I currently have will help me build out the roster and move around the draft.
