2022 Forum Mock: Discussion Thread

idk about that necessarily - i also have a 2nd round grade on paschal - that said i am a bit lower on cameron thomas right now (but he was also one of the first prospects i graded so has been marked for a "grade check" for a while now)

Good to hear. I'm big on Paschal. My chief concern with him is whether or not he's consistently able to win as a rusher from beyond the 5. But he's so explosive against the run, I think he'll at least have a solid floor. Some of the plays he made against future draftees were mind-blowing. I have similar concerns about Thomas regarding the inside-out outputs that likely won't be replicated to the same extent in the pros. And he's not as twitchy as Paschal. That said, his arsenal of moves is pro-ready and he might have among the best swim moves in the class. Doesn't erase the question marks though, so I get it. I have him as a 2nd round talent who could get pushed into the 3rd.

Last ditch effort. Willing to offer RB Philip Lindsay and WR Jauan Jennings for one of these backend 7ths. Potentially willing to use my last 7th to move up with them, though the first offer is preferable.

Not at all. I was hoping he'd drop into the 2nd round, but if I had a mid-to-late 1st round pick, I would've likely went the same route.

I've done essentially no scouting on Clark, but he also sounds like an investment.

i think clark's at least the 3rd best LB in the class and maybe even 2nd best but that spinal issue at the combine has wrecked every chance he had of maybe going high in round 2 (or even early 1)

i think that's the thing for me with paschal - i see traits that suggest he can be a consistent dangerous pass rusher - he wasnt asked to use his flexibility and bend the way he could have been - he's got 1 dominant move right now... if he can develop a 2nd move so that NFL OL can't just sit on that one move then he's going to be dangerous and we know he's going to be a dominant run defender

thomas i have those inside-out concerns because im not sure he can live inside the way paschal can - i see thomas win mostly on inside moves from outside which does concern me a little in terms of his ability to progress and develop and i think he's a lot stiffer than paschal

If we’re able to finish the draft tonight by chance, anyone opposed to waiting until Monday to start UDFA? Only takes a few days to get done and figured we could hold off since Easter is tomorrow.

Oh, NOW you want to wait. Kidding. I'm cool with that. I've got my board, but I also have plans. Figure others might as well. Sound idea and good call.

Haha I was good through the early rounds but you could feel the interest waning there at the end so had to step in and do what I do best. Kinda sorta what I do for a living anyways lol

Absolutely not. UDFA needs to be done tonight.

(Jk, I probably won’t even participate hahaha…)

Ah, I hadn't known that, and it makes sense. It's appreciated and it's a necessary role, right? Pulling the pace out of quicksand. Appreciate you stay on top of keeping everyone notified.

Project managers man. Gotta keep my people focused lol

(Also doesn’t hurt that I just started this job and my ramp up happens in may so I’ve had the time for now)

Kevin Austin was another guy I had been sitting on for awhile and figured I’d just take him. Has some injury and character concerns but the 2021 tape and the testing numbers are insane. May or may not go undrafted for the aforementioned reasons but it’s the end of the 7th so who really cares.
