2018 Forum Mock: Discussion Thread

I thought from the get go you were taking a TE. Earlier this morning I looked at your depth chart and thought your top choice was TE and 2nd WR. I was close.

Agree, Gesicki has some serious potential.
Yeah I have virtually no TEs and WRs because I missed that portion of FA. Needless to say I’ll be drafting mainly offense lol

nah, depends on what team i have, but the foot worries me, still think hes the 2nd best talent though.

if i was in the forum mock id be fucked because i only know about WRs and TEs this year lol. havent bothered to scout anything else and havent had the time either.

i used free agency to engineer my draft needs to be around the positions i know the most (apart from wr and tight end)

Well my next pick isn’t until the top of the 3rd.

Looks like I won’t be picking until next week sometime. ffs

btw, we are getting to the point in the draft where you may want to search to see if a particular player has been drafted.

On the big board thread (ctrl F, cmd F for mac users)

Had considered another player but the way Tight Ends came off the board, I had to go for Hurst there or risk him not being there with my second 2nd round selection.

I was hoping to be on the clock today, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Please, if you're close to being up and know you won't be around, pass on your boards.

With that being said, two new projects just got approved at work which means I won't be checking in as often this week. I know I have 2 picks coming up so just shoot me a PM (no need to tag me) since I just set the email notifications for new/existing PMs. I'll be on mobile but should have no problem getting a pick in within an hour of being PM'd.

Maybe for the end of the draft and for next year, everyone could turn on notifications for PMs and have someone PM them when it's close to their pick. That way they can get a notification without having to constantly check PF. It might not work perfectly, like if someone is sleeping or doesn't have internet/email access, but it could help speed things up a little.

I think it all comes down to simply being cognizant of when you're close to being up. I've been trying to get that working, and it seems at least a couple people have caught on so that's good for something. I just think we need more people to catch on and we'll be good. You can't be like 5 picks away and disappear for 10 hours. The game doesn't work if people don't make it work.

For what it's worth, I'm always hard on the draft process because I've done other drafts, not just NFL related, and they all move so much faster.

It just boils down to people not caring.

If you are at work, pass your board to a mod.

If you are going to sleep, pass your board to a mod.

If you are free, check in every hour or so.

Its really not that difficult. I understand mistakes are going to be made, but we should be churning out picks at least once per hour. Maybe we should lower the time limit to 8 hours (at least) to bring a sense of urgency to some people.

it's annoying when as a group we can make like 5 picks in an hour but sometimes cant get more than 4 picks in a day...

I've done a draft with a 3 hour time clock between the hours of 8am - 11pm. The draft was free to continue during those late hours but no skips since that's obvious sleeping time. And that was with a couple of UK people as well, although not as many overseas folks as we have here. People did really well in passing boards to one another if they knew they couldn't be around. This involved trades too.

For what it's worth, when I started this game, the time clock was 24 hours. Getting to 12 shows how far we've come lol. As I've said, I've always been hard on this process and will continue to be until we can maximize it.
