2018 Forum Mock: Discussion Thread

A major piece of this is just intrest in the game. I lot of players don’t want to spend the time nit picking 6th and 7th round picks. I’m honestly the same, and everyone values the team different. Are you building for right now or for the future? For example I cleaned most of my late round picks for decent players, I want to build a solid defense now. And I traded away luck for much less than he would have gone for in real life, but in exchange I got an elite olb Courtland Sutton Sony Michel and a pretty solid rt. I don’t like luck off his shoulder so I took darns and put a very good team around him: the trades are unrealistic but part of that is what is fun. You never see player for player trades but you get burnt as a rookie and you learn eventually i feel. certain next year it would be really cool to implement a full on draft board players could use to speed up the selections

Next year we can definitely a section on the website just for the mock where the draft and and free agency to make it easier, where it looks like the actual nfl draft results instead of like charm said page after page to find out who is there. Certainly a few kinks to work out but this thing is pretty awesome

I'm definitely having fun, don't get me wrong. I'm glad I signed up

Free Agency was definitely a little different this year. I got a lot of guys I wouldn't have expected to get for 0.5 stars, but I think that came down to how the high rollers operated. Those with the huge cap space seemed to be focused more on the top guys. They didn't want to burn their cap on bids that would take them out of the running. If they missed out, they seemed content with taking that cap to the next FA group and trying again for the big names. The few inactive owners certainly played their part, but there were also some different plans this year compared to the past. I felt like I had a little bit of a different perspective this year trying to bargain hunt.

I think that all gets eliminated with a FA process built on starting with an actual market value early, instead of starting with these 0.5 star increments building up to a deadline.

This is a major factor as well. Some people don't know the later rounds of the draft and don't want the hassle. A couple of our former players wanted nothing to do with the draft and everyone knew to go to them if they wanted to gain some extra picks. Hard to completely simulate realism when not everyone has the same desire or knowledge base.

And on that note, I have four 6th rounds picks that I'd like to offload so if anyone wants to offer me a CB1 or a starting interior o-lineman I'd gladly give you two of them

Starting CB1 or G/C for two 6th rounders? How do you figure that?

This draft is making me understand how annoying it is to be in the draft room because I feel like I coulda gotten my guy a few picks later but I didnt want to guess and then be wrong and I knew he wouldnt hold out until my 5th round pick.

I wanted to address this one too

It is kind of crazy and I can't imagine doing this for a living. That's why I've tried to trade up my last 3 picks just to make sure I get the guy I wanted, but then there are cases like Walton where he makes it to my original pick anyways. It definitely works a lot better when you have an actual board where you can see that you have backup options if player A doesn't make it to you, or if that position is drying up and you need to make the move. Typically I have a board, but this year I'm just winging it and it's a lot harder lol

just yesterday Italian Raven did it to me when he took Deontay Burnett. I had given two players to Simba to make the pick and when I got home later in the evening I found out that he had to go with my 2nd option....Wadley.

Sorry bro.. I've almost finished my picks. I doubt I'll do it again :D
