Week 4 Discussion (Other Teams)

Thursday Night Football
Dolphins @ Bengals:
It's off to the Jungle in Cincinnati where the defending AFC Champions host the surprisingly 3-0 Miami Dolphins. Some people may have their doubts about Tua Tagovailoa but beating three teams you weren't expected to beat in the Patriots, Ravens and Bills should have your attention. In fact, the last time the Dolphins started 4-0 was 1995 before the Ravens became a franchise. We know the AFC is stacked at quarterback so a QB duel between Tua and Joe Burrow should make for a much more entertaining game than watching Mitchell Trubisky run an offense.

Unfortunately for Miami, Tua suffered a back injury against the Bills and will try to play on a short week. Look for Miami to lean into the run game in order to limit the opportunities the Bengals defense has at getting to Tua. There is also the fact, the Bengals haven't allowed a TD in 20 straight possessions, with the combination of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle ready to challenge that head on. On the flip side, there's Joe Burrow who has already been sacked 15 times through the first three games of the season. Despite improvements to their offensive line, nothing has changed in Cincinnati when it comes to Burrow's protection. If Miami can get to Burrow, the Dolphins will have a chance to win and continue their winning ways against the defending AFC Champions.

9:30am - London
Vikings @ Saints: You know what I think is the Bee's knees? Football all day, from morning to Sunday Night. Start your Sunday Morning with a NFC clash between the Vikings and the Saints live from London. The Vikings scored a comeback win over the Detroit Lions last week while the Saints find themselves in a two game losing streak and look to bounce back. New Orleans traditionally starts the season slow, but a loss here might be the time to hit the panic button. A host of players missed practice on Wednesday including Jameis Winston, meaning Andy Dalton would be the starter if Winston can't go. Dalvin Cook's discloated shoulder is a concern but he will try to play through it, Alexander Mattison as we know will be ready to go as he is one of the best backup RBs in the league.

Sunday 1PM Early Games
Browns @ Falcons: It's safe to say the Browns have figured out a good balance between their run and pass attack on gameday. Not much was expected out of Jacoby Brissett, but he has shown he can manage the game well and make the plays when needed with his arm. He may not be lighting it up stat wise with only four touchdowns through three games, but he is setting the Browns up to be in playoff contention when Watson returns from his suspension.

Atlanta comes into this one riding momentum after a win over the Seahawks which saw Cordarrelle Patterson go off for 141 yards, averaging 8.3 yards per carry. Much like Cleveland, Atlanta looks to lean to the ground game and find a balanced passing attack with Marcus Mariota at quarterback. The status of star pass rusher Myles Garrett remains unclear following his car crash the other day, but it would be a big boost for the Falcons offense if they don't have to deal with Garrett chasing down Mariota every play.

Commanders @ Cowboys: When Dak got hurt, it was season over for the Cowboys with Cooper Rush in at quarterback. Now Cooper Rush is 3-0 as a starter, including beating the defending AFC Champion Cincinnati Bengals, and now looks to go 4-0 as a starter this Sunday against Washington. With Cooper earning the respect from his teammates like Ezekiel Elliott, it's safe to say the Cowboys have no plans to replace Cooper as the backup anytime soon. Another win on Sunday will make some people whisper a quarterback controversy but much like Jacoby Brissett in Cleveland, Cooper is doing his part to help Dallas stay in playoff contention for when Dak returns.

When Washington won the NFC East in 2020, it seemed they were one quarterback upgrade away from being a legit contender. They had a solid defense led by Chase Young and almost beat the eventual Super Bowl champions Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round that year. Then they mishandled the quarterback situation, and they have become the latest team to think they can fix Carson Wentz. Sitting at 1-2, the season hasn't gone as expected for the Commanders but a win over Dallas coming off a short week can be the catalyst that changes the season.

Jaguars @ Eagles: Speaking of Carson Wentz, let's talk about his former Head Coach and former team, the Philadelphia Eagles. Doug Pederson has already made Jaguar history tying former Head Coach Urban Meyer for most wins by a Jaguars Head Coach with two wins. It's simply amazing to see the turnaround from a year ago, truly a night and day difference with what Pederson has done changing the culture in Jacksonville. Leading the AFC South early on, Jacksonville can make a statement with a win over the NFC East leading Philadelphia Eagles.

Doug Pederson's firing in Philadelphia was quite controversial as usually a Super Bowl winning Head Coach gets to coast on said Super Bowl for years, but not Pederson. The drafting of Jalen Hurts was questionable at the time as Carson Wentz was still the starter, then there was tank gate at the end of 2020. Two years later, I'd say for Philadelphia, the Hurts pick is looking to be a steal. The Eagles remain one of the only two teams to be undefeated heading into week four, and if the Eagles can keep it up, Nick Sirianni may find himself in the running for coach of the year alongside the former Eagles Head Coach, Doug Pederson if the Jacksonville Jaguars win the AFC South.

Chargers @ Texans:

4PM Late Games
Cardinals @ Panthers:

Patriots @ Packers:
The New England Patriots have officially ruled out Mac Jones for this game meaning Brian Hoyer will get the start in Lambeau against the Packers on Sunday. A week after giving up 5 touchdowns to the Ravens, the Patriots defense will once again be tested by reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers.

One player to watch is fourth round pick Romeo Doubs who stepped up last week in the win against Tampa with Sammy Watkins and Christian Watson sidelined. Looking ahead for New England, a loss here may set up a month of struggles with some tough passing offenses ready to test the Patriots defense and a Brian Hoyer offense isn't built for a shootout.

Broncos @ Raiders: It's been a tough start for the new regimes in both Denver and Las Vegas, neither has been able to find their identity as we reach week four of the season. Denver may have fell for the same trap Miami fell for years ago when they hired Joe Philbin away from Green Bay but with Nathaniel Hackett. Despite the addition of Russell Wilson, the Broncos find themselves sixteenth in offense through the first three games, and 31st in scoring(14.3 PPG). Perhaps a Raiders defense that is ranked 26th in passing defense will allow Russ to Cook on Sunday and show everyone the Broncos offense we thought they were going to be in the offseason.

Josh McDaniels' last win as Head Coach came on November 14th, 2010 when the Denver Broncos beat the Chiefs. While the league has changed a ton since 2010, Josh McDaniels inability to be a Head Coach hasn't changed and it's costing a very talented Raiders roster. The Raiders find themselves middle of the road offensively despite the addition of Davante Adams from Green Bay, but their defensive issues, inability to commit to a run game is what needs to be fixed if they are going to compete in the stacked AFC.

If we beat the Dolphins, rooting for them to win would be easier. Now playoff seeding comes into play, but we don't want the Bengals to win either. This game sucks tonight

I'd rather Bengals lose but don't really care, as long as we take care of our business.

reporters not playing ball there trying to start shit
but that's also on Rhule for making that possible

Rhule's got away with being so poor through his tenure because there've been some dumpster fires drawing attention

for a guy who likes to make so much about himself, he sure as hell doesnt like to take accountability when shit isnt working

Not sure when it changed, but it used to be that other players couldn’t assist the runner forward, they would blow the play dead.

I hope JPP helps us find a pass rush, the Bengals OL is still a weakness. Wow... surprised they picked up the flag there. Good to see they finally got the shoulder to shoulder contact right for once. Refs are way too quick to throw a flag when they suspect a hit was in the head and neck area.
