Week 14 Discussion (other teams)

Looks like a lot of guys that had promise in that 2nd round from Ojabo onwards have not panned out so well so far

Cam jurgens and cam Taylor-britt clearly the biggest hits from the mid-to-late 2nd round

Probably more hits in the 3rd than the 2nd that year

Obviously only year 2 and a bunch of these guys were developmental picks…
I propose we start trading 2nd round picks every year (see Roquan Smith).

even when they've been good players
they've been too injured

in 2008-2012 superbowl year we had a pretty good record with 2nd round picks - 5/7 2nd rounders were impact players and 4 were instrumental in the superbowl run

since that 2012 draft class, we've drafted 7 more 2nd rounders - only 1 got a 2nd contract with the ravens so far (tyus bowser) and outside of bowser, the only other 2 impact players we've got from the 2nd round were JK Dobbins (who's spent 2.5/4 years unavailable) and Timmy Jernigan who was traded away to the Eagles before the end of his rookie deal... everyone else has made very little impact on the team...

Ojabo's spent 2 years on the injury table
Arthur Brown was a bust
Maxx Williams never became what he was supposed to be and was out-performed by a 5th round pick in the same class (who did get a 2nd contract from the ravens)
Kamalei Correa was a bust

it is worth acknowledging that we made 7 2nd round picks in 5 drafts in that 2008-2012 run vs 7 2nd round picks in the 11 drafts since so volume is also partly the issue here...

I guess Trevor is playing tomorrow, also Browns waived PJ Walker so it seems Joe is getting another start for the Browns even though they haven't named a starter yet.

It's official....Trevor Lawrence starting for Jacksonville. Which means when we play them next Sunday night all NBC will focus on is his damn ankle, and how tough he is, blah, blah.

Good. We do our best work when we go under the radar
