2024 Training Camp

Agree all around but something tells me Gage is making the team. I think he has a fully guaranteed 1.2m contract?
Only like $150k or so guaranteed so nothing that locks him in by any means. He's definitely the other heavy consideration for me but he had some really weird and limited usage last night. I'm sure that's attributed to just signing earlier in the week but still raises some questions.

Now that we can relax on the Wiggins injury…

Gotta shift our focus to the other problem we saw yesterday…

Tannehill for QB2!!!

Anyone besides what we got right now lol

I wonder if we can make the cap room and if Ryan would want to be A backup here?

Thoughts from preseason week 1:

DBs were showing up - Nate Wiggins (injury aside) was awesome, Ar'Darius Washington looks like he'll make the most of Maulet missing time, JAD looked smooth too - as always, just need these guys to stay healthy and this group is insanely deep

nice to still see Orr using sim pressures (even in preseason) - just reassuring to see that the defence is philosophically fundamentally similar to last year

Owen Wright looks like an OK option as the RB3 ahead of Ali

OL Depth looks nice - not convinced by Faalele at RG but Jones at LT and the 2 RT options looked good, Vorhees showed some nice things, Cleveland looked comfortable at C and even some of the 3rd options looked like they had something to offer too - notable that the 2nd C in the game was Dalcourt and not Samac, notable that Sala wasn't the backup RG and was playing OT - feels like maybe those 2 are in danger of not making the 53

Backup QB situation looks dire - does make you wonder why they didnt try to bring in anyone better than Josh Johnson given he was QB3 last year and they clearly weren't in love with the idea of bringing back Huntley either - 1st half offence wasnt particularly interesting but 2nd half offence was putrid

Tez Walker being buried in the WR depth chart behind Ryan, kirkwood, wade, washington and others is a little unnerving - im assuming it was just a rookie being a rookie and he'll come in the game earlier next time but still not great seeing those guys ahead of him - same deal with russell gage who just got here

Kane made a couple of nice plays on punt coverage

Usage for the late round draft picks was certainly strange. One thing I did see with both Tez and Samac is that both are still apparently recovering and they may have opted to give them later reps for that reason. Still seems curious to me and not sure if I buy it, but guess we’ll see during the next 2 games.

Otherwise I had similar feelings. Thought Faalele was significantly better in the run game than pass game but there were a few signs. Like you, I’m not fully convinced, but still seems the favorite on the surface. Saturday should be telling whether they believe in that experiment or not.

Back end of WR, OL, ILB, and DB is hard to predict this year.

RG is the big thing for me. If not Faalele then who? Because it seems like Cleveland is your new C2 with Mekari as RT1

ILB isn't too hard for me. Question really seems to be Ross as ILB5 or not, and I'm not sure it matters too much since that would be a ST add.

WR and OL are the clear hard ones.

DB is complicated by health more than anything.

Agreed on all 4

saw some stuff that looked good to me
obviously has to build on it but as a first outing, showed lots of the qualities that got him picked so high
He looked as advertised. He is remarkably athletic and you could see it clear as day, looked a step quicker than anyone on the line. He also got rocked off his anchor from what I saw fairly often, but also looked to recover from it and regain his footing.

I read that Lamar threw his helmet off pissed off that Nelson dropped a deep pass right in his hands.

Apparently Nelson dropped a deep pass twice.

Yeah not saying Faalele won’t work but first look was mixed - the height/leverage issue is going to be hard to overcome

Given the apparent snap distribution in practice, seems like it’s more likely Rosengarten wins the RT job than Faalele loses the RG job
