2024 Training Camp

This is where I’m at. Was excited when we drafted him. Was pounding the table for Ali or Tyrone Tracy at that pick… but seems like it’s a meh pick atm. Didn’t see much in game 1

agreed
loved both of those guys in the class - thought they were great value

looks to me like Tracy was the guy to get though so far

owen wright clearly out-performing Ali through preseason game 1 - Ali just lacks the leg drive in tight spaces

but i guess Ali might offer some returner value too so we'll see

Think Sala is for sure. Samac is an interesting case because apparently he’s been working back from his college injury still and they’ve slow played him a bit. Apparently he hasn’t been fully participating consistently in camp until recently.

that feels like the kind of guy who they'd happily sign to the PS then
unlikely anyone's gonna snipe him with limited buzz or snaps and they get to continue to develop him without worrying about the 53 or actually having him be in line to take snaps

Sala has the versatility going for him at least. But I agree. Weirdly think that as we’re currently constructed, a C that may be able to play some G is more valuable than yet another G/T.

we've got 5 guys we'd happily role out at OT right now - normally OT flexibility is important but clearly not right now

Maybe the Dalcourt over Samac thing shouldn't be overlooked too much. Apparently it's been that way in camp recently too.

All in all, the options for OL9 are very uninspiring.

Sala doesn't seem to have improved much in the last year and Manning is a G that is only a G (apparently the C experiment with him didn't go well). Seems we could be leaning toward an outside addition.

at least we're pretty happy with the top 8 OL on the roster

Dalcourt did pretty ok with his time and notably entered the field well before some of the other deep depth options

Yeah ideally OL9 never plays but we seem to not have much trust in any of the options right now which is concerning

Even more so that RG seems pretty unsettled still and Ben Cleveland seems to be the only viable backup option that might be able to slot in on a whim if needed.

I can't imagine if the line looks bad early in the season that we won't kick the tires on someone
Problem there is it’s hard to trade for an OL without a team having a need to do it, like a contract or disgruntled type situation.

If the OL is struggling bad come regular season, and a guy hits the trade block, I would bet decosta ponies up for it, same for edge rusher, but again the biggest holdup would be the salary cap. Quality OL rarely get traded and if they do they’re almost certainly a large cap hit.

Agreed. In addition to that there are some old guys out there who despite being well past their prime are probably better than Daniel Faalele and Ben Cleveland

Agreed there. Although I would personally put a timer on him. He's looked brutal so far, and I went back to evaluate his college tape during the offseason, almost kept him off of the 90 man roster in the FM based on that and how he's fared in the pros.

Not that the money is going to be the same, but I’m going to laugh when there’s some 34 year old dude out there starting for us after wanting to move on from Zeitler for that reason.

My biggest takeaway from the game is the fact that we will be lucky to win one game with any of these backup quarterbacks. God help us if anything happens to Lamar, we are basically done for the season with who we have now.

Apparently Bateman's day was very short and he looked bad. I hope he can just heal up.

Early in camp Wiggins (who we know is at very least decent if not outright good) said Bateman was the toughest cover.

Pretty sure he's routed up all the cbs. Think Marlon said something similar. It's up to health and Lamar getting him the ball.

Roche signed and made it like 1 practice before getting hurt and now he's gone. We added RB John Kelly today.

With that, I can't believe how light we're going at OLB right now. Joe Evans was literally the only OLB on the field for a majority of the 1st game with Malik and Tavius taking limited reps. Meanwhile, we've got 13 WRs, 7 TEs, and 18 DBs.
