Lamar Jackson, the Miscommunications, and the Refs

Im
I just watched the replay and without reading what you guys have already written, some opinions.

* The new kickoff rules look to be a complete bust. Both teams realized it was better to do touchbacks than allowing returns. So all this is going to do is still be a dud play, but give the offense an even shorter field than last year. Booo!
* If this offense is going to be built on swing passes, count me out. The most boring play in football
* Whoever let Harrison cover Rice on the yet-another-slant must be deserving of coach of the year
* Where was Hamilton? I expected the usual dominance, but very little to see there
* Obvious: Jackson and Likely really killed it out there
* Whos momma did Cleveland sleep with to not get to start on *this* o-line?

On a personal note, I think I'm tired of the NFL. I was really bored even though the game was close. I've already paid for gamepass so I'll watch this year, but if I don't find something interesting in the game again, I'll have to find another way to waste my spare time.

im pretty curious to see the Chargers but other than that will stress over our playoff push and health. Tournament is all that matters anymore for this team

At the risk of triggering someone I will say as a Chiefs fan I don’t see how anyone can be overly critical of Jackson. He nearly accounted for 400 freaking yards on his own. Sur he missed a couple throws but that’s football. It is easy to say that when we are here and he is worried when Jones is going to get to him. It is a coaching issue. Henry should never touch the ball less than 20-25 times. I don’t care if seven in a row go for no gain, he wears down any line and can go thirty plus at anytime. It feels at times watching the Ravens that the coaches don’t trust the game plan then toss it out and rely on Jackson to “ sand lot” them to a win. When it works it is great when it doesn’t he’s a bum. He made as good a throw as there is on the last play… it just didn’t work out. The play before was not on him but on the receiver. Why would you leave a large whole and run into coverage? The corner shot was a very difficult throw that not many make. Btw I agree the procedure penalties in the beginning were BS. We had almost the exact same thing last year. Hope you guys have a good year and we will probably see you in January.
Largely agree. We have real coaching issues

Why didnt we continue to do playaction? I could be wrong but it looked like chiefs were biting on it every single time and it was like the only time we got some pass pro… likely, like we all thought looks really good and his iq looks great.. love lamar but he fucked that money up
Said the same thing about the play action. Henry is already regretting coming here lol

Will be very curious to see how we use him throughout the season. He's not explosive in the modern sense, and really is at his best when he gets in a rhythm. It's going to be a real test of patience. Coaches are going to have to accept that he might rumble off two 2-yard runs in a row before breaking off for a 12-yarder.

I don't think this is uncommon for Henry. I'm pretty sure there are statistics out there that point that Derrick Henry gets hot the longer the season goes on. Players get exhausted from the weekly games and it gets colder and hurts more to tackle. He may be annoyed but nothing more than he usually is used early in the season. I just hope the Ravens stick with the run game enough with him, once he hits over 20 carries, that's when the big plays come. Even games when Tennessee was down 20 points they were able to run their way back.

What I am excited for is the Ravens ran 12-personnel last night at a 52% rate. Last year in the AFC chip they only had 6 snaps in 12 personnel. I'm hoping that means Monken learned his lesson last year and the importance of keeping Andrews and Likely on the field together. Also to note after watching film, Andrews had a quiet game because he was heavily focused and bracketed most of the night. I think moving forward these two will feed off of each other well.

Yall this is our year IF Harbs and Monken get their heads out of their asses and Orr grows up quickly.

This team is good coaching away from a SB
I watched the coaching make those last 3 plays of the game and Lamar missed 2 and Likely was a toe off on 1. If you told me a, likely top 5 if not top 10, defense is going to end up having 3 straight plays with wide open receiver in the end zone from the 11 I would have said you are crazy, but the coaching drew up plays to make that happen.

Not worried about that

Was probably more about being down two scores and the OL run blocking
I mean I understand the fourth , but he had 8 carries at half. That’s just a bad game plan.

Likely is a major weapon to have in this group if he's gonna play like this

a bit worried about Andrews though
Likely has always looked like an X factor, he’s feasting on the playing time and making the most of it. Hopefully we can keep him long term.

I wouldn’t worry about Mark. He’s still ramping up from a horrific injury, I think it will take some time for him to be in game shape.

Mark just doesn't look right yet. I also think he may have been more injured in that car accident than anyone is letting on.

By the time we get to week 6, if he STILL isn't right, I'm gonna be very worried.

@JoeyFlex5 , your concern about him might be dead on. From my understanding, next season would be the last one under his current contract. I still think Andrews will slowly turn it around, but what if he doesn't?
