Like that's the thing. If you're pass rush is effective (which ours is) and you have talented CBs (which we do) then you ought run a good bit of man coverage no?
we would get destroyed in man coverage vs the Bengals until Mike Mac came to town and changed our defenisvely philosophy to more zone defense. I'd prefer zone to these high octane offenses. Nothing is perfect though and in the 4th quarter our d started to break down. We were fine in the first three quarters.

Totally understand that. In fact we ran a tremendous amount of Zone. Do you think that made a lot of sense against the Cowboys?
Idk enough about the cowboys to say, but the way we ran zone later in the game was unacceptable, no disguise, no rotation of zones, just line up off the ball drop into your zone and rush 4, that never works in the nfl.

We went man heavy vs the raiders and got toasted. Straight man coverage tends to get crushed in todays nfl

100% agree there is no one size fits all. Also it is just goofy regarding the stark difference between Q1-3 vs Q4 2 weeks in a row now

It was really Adams just beating up on Stephens. I guess it would've been interesting to see if Marlon could have done better. If not, then we gotta find a way to play a higher quality zone to your earlier point

Marlon has been the most targeted and has given up the least amount of yards. Dude isn't quite the version of himself of the past but he's a damn good CB. Idk why in situations where a team has a truly top 5 kinda guy, it isn't Marlon who we put out there to make his life miserable.

And if not Marlon, not the rookie in his second game ever after having just been in a car accident that had him in concussion protocol. I swear some of the decisions from Orr early this year have just been so strange and unnecessary

I dont know if its selective so much as its the fact that as Marlon was not giving up catches to Lamb, and I dont even think they attempted to go his way most of the time Humphrey was on him, it just was not really shown in the broadcast. After all you only really show the player when the ball goes there way and if a CB does their job the ball should rarely go near them.

There is one thing that terrifies me about this game and that is the idea that Josh Allen may have finally "gotten it". Josh Allen at his peak is the best QB in the NFL, yes that includes Mahomes, but his problem has always been that he cant stop himself from making the dumb play which is why he at one point lead the NFL in total TDs over the past 3 years while also being tied for first in turnovers (with Lawrence which is hardly good company).

Right now, somehow, Josh Allen has the longest active streak of throws without an INT. If this is more than a random lucky streak and he has honestly figured it out, that is a HUGE problem. The only saving grace being that he took too long and now the roster has gotten far worse because if he figured it out 4 years ago he has multiple Super Bowl trophies right now. I was down on the Bills because while I had Allen as the 2nd or 3rd best QB in the NFL I didnt think with his playstyle it would be enough but if he has cleaned up his weakness than he is the best in the NFL and that is very dangerous this Sunday.

This. Marlon just did a better job overall than the other CBs.
