I'm still way higher than most on this D. If you take out pure garbage stats by baker and dak and go by DVOA for the other 26 qtrs they've played I'm pretty damn sure you have an average pass D. Now the schedule finally lightens up after playing half the top 10 Qb's in the league and this D is going to start showing who they are.

They’re mostly frustrating because they keep blowing coverages, not because they’re bad or inferior players. We are a bit leaky over the middle, but I’d guess if we played some of those coverage as we should have, our D isn’t looking that bad. What gives me hope is that it is stuff that is entirely correctable. What gives me pause is that we’re 7 weeks in and are still seeing the same things happening.

It does feel like we are missing Denard Wilson. It also feels like we're a pass rusher short and that Ar'darius deserves more snaps over Jackson. But I am not buying the narrative that this D is swiss cheese when they dominated Dak when it mattered, shut down Allen and held a red hot Baker to 10 points for 3 qtrs. They also had a very nice blue collar effort on Washington who's dropping 40 bombs on people.

As for the MNF 4th qtr, c'mon. ST and an errant Lamar pass gifted short fields against prevent D's. I also don't think the Bucs are any happy with those nice garbage stats, it cost them the season.

Outside of Williams I think most would say it's not a talent issue. That's why even though it's frustrating many think the issues can be fixed.

yep, I agree. The most important positional coach we are missing is Denard Wilson. He was great in Philly as well.

we're 13th in defensive DVOA, some of that will be because the run defence is so good, some of that will be adjustment because we've played 5 of the top 9 offences in the league (in DVOA terms)... and the ravens are also one of those 9 offences too lol

My mind goes back to that one time when we went to Miami and lost the only game the Dolphins won that year. I think Cam Cameron was their HC!

So, don't put it past the Ravens to lay a big egg in Cleveland unless the friggin' defense picks it up. Jameis Winston is the biggest gunslinger of them all. Our secondary sucks against gunslingers.
 
Harbs is again adamant about defending our secondary and by extension condoning the terrible job Orr has been doing (imo, of course).
