The Lamar, The Offence and The Pass Rush

Lamar looked amazing again. Even while clearly a little hobbled after missing practice this week and having no QB run game, he was undeniable.
His 4th perfect passer rating which Ties Ben Roethlisberger for the most ever in a career (Lamar is only in year 7).
5th straight 275yd passing game, most in franchise history.

The OL had a poor start but more than made up for it. Monken called a great game. Henry was great. Zay and the receivers were awesome.

Defence flattered by the scoreline. Definitely aided by Nix with some poor misses on some open receivers and some overzealous 4th down calls. DBs looked better, had some unfortunate penalties against them (very ticky tacky) and they're lucky the score was so lopsided that no one will remember Marcus Williams getting mossed by Bo Nix for a receiving TD. Roquan also not showered in glory again in the passing game.

Pass rush was not a factor. Still feels like a real area of weakness. Maybe EDC can work some magic before the trade deadline closes on Tuesday.

And yet, they absolutely dominated the Broncos.

Nice win. Nix missed some major throws to wide open guys that would’ve kept this game a lot closer. Can’t complain about the officiating at all really. Marcus Williams and Brandon Stephens are the guys in the secondary that are just game breakers, something’s gotta give there, can’t have those guys starting all year long. The pass rush, where is it? Nix coulda ordered a pizza to the pocket and had it delivered right there.

Lamar is the best player in the league.
Flowers is great.
Bateman needs to catch the ball.
Henry is great.
Hill is great.

Everyone on defense not named Madabuike, Hamilton, or Marlon continues to play pretty poorly. Simpson did some flashing though.
Stephens is terrible.
Marcus Williams is terrible.

STs blows.

Bo Nix is atrocious. Any other QB and that's a much closer game. This team needs to figure out it's pass rush and it's safeties.

I'm extremely impressed with this offense today. Broncos defense was basically top 5 in every category and our offense went "lol, k." As for this OL, Joe D should be smiling above with how they performed after the first drive.

Let's talk about this defense. If you didn't watch the game, you would think this defense had a fantastic performance. They really didn't. Burrow and their offense will put up 30+. This defense is broken. I'm writing them off.

This was the first time the defense ending numbers look better than they played. Usually the numbers work to be just a little worse than we played. Most starting qbs hit the open touchdown on the broncos 2nd drive and the game is completely different.

No one can realistically watch us and think we can win a sb without a new pass rusher

Now for the good:
Lamar Jackson is the best player in the nfl and it’s not close, doesn’t mean much rn for February but he’s not just doing Lamar Jackson things, he’s passing the ball better than anyone as well. He’s unbelievable right now. His deep ball has been money this year and today was just unfair how perfectly he was throwing over and behind defenders deep.

Lamar and zay as a tandem are looking really hard to contain. Zays routes are sharp as shit and he’s separating, he’s attacking the ball and catching so naturally, and where he’s SPECIAL is after the catch, he is looking like 2019 Lamar in the open field when he totes it. And their scramble drill is really becoming something big. They’re finding eachother when it breaks down and big plays are resulting.

Derrick Henry is just a machine. We know what he is. Even without the huge runs he’s still putting out a great game and making a huge impact. He ran over guys and got either a key first down or a TD so many times today, it’s like it was just standard for him to makes guys bounce off him and run the next 5-7 yards for the first.

Monken called a great game all day.

The OL took over in the second half. They struggled in pass pro early but once Henry got going just a little and Lamar started making plays scrambling, it seemed like it all just shifted and the OL just dominated.

That Bateman drop really ticked me off.

Likely has been a ghost lately, not sure what is going on there
Bateman called for it too lmao
